Signature air conditioner fan not working

Signature air conditioner fan is not working all the time. It runs for a while and then makes a loud noise like like it's in a bind. I have to run over and turn it off. I'm wondering if maybe I should remove it and attempt to grease the bearings or replace it if I can find a new one. I'ts a fairly old one I think. Also, I'm not sure how to get the fan out. Once I removed the cover, I can see the top part of the fan, but it's recessed somewhat. It looks like a squirrel cage fan. The model number is UFO-5242. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On window AC this is the weak link. The fan motor bearings are shot. When the unit starts to heat up the metal is expanding and that is when it grind to a halt. In my experience to cheapest way out is just buy a new one. Unless you are real handy and have access to a new or a used fan motor which can be expensive and hard to install you will be dollars and cut knuckles ahead. Hope this helps. 2rns4u <*{{{>(

I have a continental elec port. air. Not sure of model. Cools great but when compressor kicks on unit make a loud whistling noise. Cleaned filter no help.

although annoying, at this time i would not mess with it, the fan motor needs oiling (zoom spout oiler ) works the best .. you can find how in my other postings.. try running the unit on a lower fan speed... some cool is better than NONE

Noisey compressor

Does it make the noise all of the time or just periodically? Does the outdoor fan run when it is making the noise. If the fan isn't running and the compressor is noisy at that time likely it is in defrost mode which is normal.

HEATER MAKING LOUD NOISES

Check the draft inducer motor for any partial blockages or dibri.

I've seen sticks, birds nest particles and pieces of deteriorating fan blades (squirrel cage type fans) cause this.

You might also find that the inducer motors bearing are going.

If its a loud vibrating grinding type noise, I'd suspect bearings or missing pieces of the blades. (unbalanced)
If it's a clanking type noise I'd suspect loose items hitting the fan.

The inducer motor will only operate right before and during burner operation, while the blower motor can operate at any time depending on your setting.

Haier ESA 3185 AC won't cool; makes escalating loud vibrating noise near front panel/ filter

Have someone check the run capacitor of this unit. If the run capacitor is bad over shorted it can cause the unit to run and short cycle on a current overdraw. This makes for an electrical imbalance in the compressor motor. Next step is the compressor is faulty.
