SOURCE: How do you open the stove lid of a Kenmore 7907138

You need to be careful with sealed burner ranges. If you try to lift the range top you can damage the alluminum gas pipes for the burners under the range top. Check to see if the burner heads lift off. If the burner heads are held on by screws make sure you remove those first. With the heads removed look down into the cooktop thru the hole where the burner sits. Make sure the orfice is not attached to the lid. If they are you may see a screw you can remove. Look for any other screws behind the oven door that may be attached to the lid. Apply light pressure when trying to lift the lid. If you feel any major resistence DO NOT FORCE IT UP. Sears.com also has parts schematics for every range they make and that will visually help with the dis-assembly because you can see how the parts go together. Also MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE APPLIANCE AND TURN OFF THE GAS VALVE BEFORE WORKING ON IT!!!

I have a WFG381LVQ stove that is 3 years old. The stove top burners work but the oven will not ignite. I see the spark, smell gas but it will not ignite. Is it possibly the gas valve?

no if you smell gas it is not the valve, in bottom of oven you open the lower drawer, there you should be able to see if there is something in the way of the burner, most people put lids in the bottom, remove all from bottom and try to see if burner will come on

Does model XFG371LVQ Whirlpool stove have air adjustment for top burners?

Remove the front panel to find where the gas injectors enter the burner tubes you will see they are cut away and have a screw holding an outer ring which is adjustable, open them up more to get more air in .

Stoves newhome gg700 grill flame goes out if lid is closed

I had a stove in my camper that did this. The answer was to let the flame burn for a few minutes BEFORE closing the door. I think the original problem is that there is too much gas flowing to the burner and it literally blows itself out, until you get everything heated up and working. The question, I think, is there a way to turn down the gas pressure??

I have a maytag super capacity plus stove and need to adjust the air mix for the burners. How to do it? Please help thanks

Open the top of the range. I believe there are a couple of spring clips in the front between the range top and the top of the door. Not sure on the Maytag. However, when you get the lid up, (it should be hinged at the back), set the burner pieces back on. (These burner pieces HAVE to be there or you'll just have a blowtorch pointing up!) You'll see that going to every burner there is a tube to carry the gas. on the side of every tube there will be an adjustable, sliding air vent. They are usually held in position by a set screw. Loosen the set screw. Light the burner and carefully slide the vent closed or open to adjust how much air is being brought into the mix. If the flame is way too high and or orange in color....you have too much air. You want as much flame as possible on high without the flame being orange or white-ish. Once you get the flame the way you like it, tighten the set screw back. Hope this helps.

When stove is on a yellowish orange flame comes from burner. This has not occured until now. We own this viking oven for about 10 yrs without any issue whatso ever. Can you help to resolve this issue

You need to replace the burner if you want blue flame. Since its 10 years old, it's about time to replace the burner with similar size and shape. Old burner have big hole causing yellowish flame compare to new one.
I hope I solve your problem.

Hi I have purchased a 2nd hand Colman 431 stove . The instruction Manual wasn't with it. Looking for instructions Please. Hope you can help. Rob Tyler Toronto

I am not sure what to tell you, other than go to Colman's website for a manual. That will at least give you a parts list if you ever need it. But, these stoves are generally solid and reliable, with few things to know about.

What I do to operate:
  1. Set up stove: lid up and wings out, tank fully pumped (works best if no more than about 2/3 to 3/4 full) and installed with nozzle firmly into the socket above the right burner.
  2. Little lever on left of valve assembly--turn upward. Open valve a little bit to get fuel flowing to burner. Give it just a few seconds then light burner with match or lighter (watch your fingers!). It should light off pretty readily.
  3. Open valve a fair bit (anti-clockwise) and let it burn for up to a minute until the flame changes from yellow to mostly blue, and mostly around the burner and not up in the air. Turn little lever on left of valve downward.
  4. Re-pump tank to maintain pressure.
  5. Use valve knob to adjust flame intensity, and cook away.
  6. To use second burner, the key thing os to remember that it draws from the same valve, so when it is on the main burner goes down a bit.
  7. The knob for the 2nd (left) burner is a little flip-out on the left end of the stove. Open slightly, and light the burner. Only do this after the main (right) burner is burning blue.
  8. Use the main valve (on the tank) to adjut the total fuel flow, and the little handle for the left burner to adjust how much of the total flow goes to the left side. (You cannot burn the left without the right being on.)
  9. Pump as required to maintain pressure.
  10. The only real "part" that you might have to strip or replace is the "generator" which is the tube from the valve across the top of the right burner. The liquid fuel is vaporized in there, and is what needs to get warmed up when you start.

When any of the top burners are set to low

It can be (if it happens when the burners are on low). In that case you need to adjust the burners (the directions are usually in the installation guide). With the exact model number, you may be able to find this online. In some cases, the problem also happens when you turn the knob for the burner from Hi to Low so you can check that as well.

On my stove, you turn on the burner and set it to Lo. Then remove the knob and use a small flat blade screwdriver in the valve shaft (or an opening next to the valve stem) to turn the adjustment screw. Then adjust the flame to the desired size (hold the valve shaft to keep it from turning with the screw). Replace the knob. Repeat this for all of the burners.

I hope this helps.

Installed stove, no flames on burners?

It may still have air in the system, turn on one burner on and allow the gas to flow with a lighter in the path of the gas see if the gas lights of at least explodes I mean until it goes Poof, once it does that if it does not light then pull the top off the stove and adjust the vents on the pipes to focus the flames and how much air is blended in with the gas, also turn the burner so that the holes are half way open, I am not sue about your stove but most have an adjustment by turning the burner 1/4 of a turn to change the flame characteristics. if this does not help post here and I will see what else I can find out on your stove. I need the modle of the stove and the regulator number where the gas hooks up.

Replacement Parts For Vintage Magic Chef stove

You probably have a 1940's model of Magic Chef. Check for the model number under the lid of the cook top on the upper right hand side of the stove. It should have the model number and the serial number, too. You will need both. The Old Applicance Club run by Jack Santoro is the place to go along with a site called "Antique gas stoves"in Georgia. Good luck with the world of vintage stoves.
