If the screen is too dark on the TV or the brightness keeps on continuing to change then the problem here is with the Energy Saving mode settings. By default the TV does set the Energy Saving to Auto, which means that the TV will automatically by it's self does adjust the screen brightness depending on the brightness of light it detects.
Sounds like screen voltage has exceeded much. Its LOT adjustments should be checked. Contact any service technician.

You need to replace the inverter board thats what preventing the backlights from lighting up so you can see the picture. You can get the inverter board from www.tvrepairworld.com
Generally on Flat screen Televisions the way they are straight out of the box is fine for most people. However you can change the brightness/resolution depending if you have a dark room/bright room or if you have an HD cable box or not. Unless you have an issue with sight i suggest leaving the default settings alone and using an HDMI cord to get the best sound and picture from your tv. Plug it in and enjoy.
have a Mitsubishi TV 1993. Model CS-35301. The problem is that there is a white line that is running through a blank screen. The sound is fine just no picture. Have you heard of "Vertical Collapse?"

nothing to worry just minimise brightness to avoid screen burn.
"Vertical Collapse?"
means one bright hor.line in the middle of screen.
this problem can be solved
1 check vertical yoke connector or wire loose
2 check supply to vertical section which normally comes from EHT transformer
check components in vertical section or print loose
