Question about Sony HDR-CX7 Camcorder
My sony hdr-cx7 camcorder has a problem when the cam gets hot. the video jitters and the steadyshot can't seem to stabilize the image.
One fix is turning off steadyshot then try putting the camcorder upright(the lens pointing up) for few second until you see the video stabilize, then use as normal but the camcorder will jitter again if handle it roughly. This is just a workaround, i still dont know why it happens, need to send it for repair soon.

Sony HDR-CX7 has a defect that Sony will not admit to. The jittering frame issue, sony alleged is caused by a optical issue which cost me a flat repair rate of $317.00 dollars to repair however, I see it as a faulty steady shot chip in the camera that burns out after long term use, symptoms include camera getting hot, then frame shakes causing the camera to malfunction. I would not recommend buying this camera, unless you keep it under long term warranty. Plus this camera is not longer being manufactured by sony.

Mine is a Sony HDRHC9, same issue, but when I tilt the camera 90 degrees clockwise, the image stops jittering. When I tilt it back upright, it jitters again. There could be a loose wire connection somewhere.

The lens cover mechanism, in these cameras, is susceptible to debris and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.
My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.
