SOURCE: E40 error door light flashing and clicking noise

E40: Door open, Interlock, wiring or main PCB most likley going to be faulty door interlock.

Turn the power off, unplug the machine and take the top off your machine and on the front right of the machine there is a plastic case with lots of wires.

Put the wires out one block at a time, keep putting them in and out, this will help the connection to seat.

Try the machine again and the problem should be solved.

If not you may need a new board.

Good Morning Aaron - Based on the symptoms you are describing and if you are receiving an error code E40, your loading door may be ajar. Double-check to ensure that it is closed. If it is secure, reset the power to your appliance for about 30 seconds. You can do this by unplugging the unit or flipping your circuit breaker into the off position. If the error persists, it could either be the door switch assembly or your unit's main control board. In that case, a certified technician would generally replace the faulty part after proper diagnosis.

AEG washing machine error code e40

E40 relates to the door being left open when the programme is started, it maybe that the latch was not pushed over when the door was shut. After the door is closed again the fault should go away. If it does not and you hear alot of clicking from the door lock you may just have a door lock at fault.Code E40 is door not closed, could be a mis-aligned door or faulty door switch.-------------But if door is closing properly and you are confirmed that door is getting properly locked, then other possibility can be gunked filter or blocked drain pump.It requires cleaning internally. The procedure is as follows:--- Towards the bottom right of the machine is a pull-down flap.
Drain the machine - there's a tube at the bottom of the machine
with a plastic plug - you'll see a butterfly handle, pull hard; the plug
is a round ball on the end of a stick.
Unscrew the large diameter thing (pump cover) -
Don't do this before the drain step!!!
Withdraw the filter cylinder and remove any gunge - the
filter port has two ports - the left one is the impellor
pump and the right one is the discharge pipe; feel to ensure
these are not gunged up either.
Reassemble in reverse order - as Haynes say.
Almost every programme necessitates a pump activation to
assure that the machine is empty of water .-----------

I have a ewf1090 with an E40 error what can I check to see what is wrong

The code E40 indicates an internal loss of power, most likely caused by the door not been properly closed, either by a handling mistake or because the door latch is worn out.

There are a number of other conditions that may pop up the same message (i.e. overload due to defective motor, fuse blown), but unless you have any other symptoms like burned smell, I'd go for the door first.

The fuses are the second thing I'd check.

Comes up with a readout of E40. m/c will not run

I traced the fault to the door catch and I later founf out that the code E40 means a fault in the door locking system.
Just have to get my wife to push the door closed a little harder.
Thank you for your assistance with this problem.

Error code e40 on my washing machine electrolux ewn 16781 w

Hi,
The Error E40 warning means the door is not properly closed. The E40 error code indicates a loss of electrical power usually but not always due to the door not shutting properly or not locking. But, since you smelled burning it could be any electrical short that blew a fuse and shut the machine down. It could also be the motor windings with the internal overload protector shutting it down.
Thank you for contacting Fixya.com

Electrolux ewf1074 error e40

I've just bought one of these machines, and the manual says the E40 warning means the door is not properly closed. Seems like that would be obvious if it were true, but maybe check that it is closing completely.
