    Hi

We have 11 Digiboxes running Sky TV, they are the DS1214R and DS445NB, The thomson unit model Number 116-033 (version 4E0910) is using an operating system version of 1.2S4FE, this operating system does not allow us to get into the Auto standby feature which shuts the system after a period of time.

I need to get in to the manufacturers settings to disable the auto standby function.

    thank you

The issue turned out to be two types of software loaded onto each Digibox, By turning off the receiver then pressing and holding the 'back up' button on the remote while powering up the digibox restores the latest software availible, the back up button must not be released until all LEDs are lit then the software up date will take 10 minutes to load, then in the menu is the option to turn off the Auto standby option.

There must be a problem with the box, it should not go into standby is the set is active.

I HAVE AN OLD THOMSON SKY BOX(NON HD) CONNECTED TO A SONY BRAVIA 32BX320. THERE IS A POOR RECEPTION ON SKY CHANNELS PARTICULARLY NOTICEABLE ON SKY SPORTS FOOTBALL WHERE IMAGES ARE "DRAGGING", "DELAYED

First step...clean out the "old" guy with clean, dry, compressed air to get dust off the capacitors and resistors. The frequencies that the "box" selects are regulated by those components. If this doesn't work you should realize that the electrical values of those components change as they age...and like grandma, can't do the tricks they used to.

I have a Pioneer DVR5100H which was set up to record Analogue programs - can I change the set up to accept digital programs. I have tried auto setup but it doesn't pick up any programs?

Hi,

You can't record digital programmes with this recorder unless it is connected to a digital tuner, e.g. a Freeview box or Sky digibox. This recorder has a built in analogue tuner which allows it to record analogue transmissions. Recorders which can record digital transmissions have a built-in digital tuner and usually have a DVB logo (actually looks more like DV3) on the front.

If you want to record digital programmes using this recorder, you need to connect it to a Freeview or Sky digibox, preferably with a scart cable. It is not sufficient to connect it to a TV with a digital tuner or built in Freeview as the player does NOT record directly from the TV, it must be connected directly to the transmission source. A basic stand-alone digital tuner (Freeview box) can be bought for as little as £10-15.

I have a Tosumi television connected to standard sky box but every time I turn on television it goes to another channel rather than the connected av channel. Also when I try to use sky controller to...

Hi,

Always turn on your TV with the Sky box (or any other external device you want to use) turned OFF. When the TV is on, turn on the Sky box by pressing the "Sky" button at the top centre of the remote control. This will ensure that the TV recognises that there is an external input and it will automatically switch to the correct channel. It also ensures that your Sky remote control isn't in TV mode.

If you switch your TV to standby using the Sky remote after watching, the next time you use the Sky remote, it's still in TV mode. This is why your TV channels are jumping around.

Hope this helps.

this recorder is constantly getting bad reviews, I think it is unfair because mine does the job, however this problem occured heres what you do.
turn off at the mains and wait 20secs turn back on and hold the standby button untill a light appears.
in sequence up down left right menu ok press the buttons on the front of the box wait 60 seconds and the normal red light will appear turn on box and there you go.
Good Luck further issues visit www.topuptv.com WARNING- doing this procedure will swipe your library but i think it is the only solution
