Question about Panasonic DVD-S52 DVD Player

1 Answer

My Panasonic dvd/video player says that the dvds are scratched even when they are new.

I have only recently had this problem. It will only play a few, but not everything. It makes a strange winding sound, hesitates, then winds again. Then the message about the dvd being scratched shows up on the screen.

For sound may be you are using above 96khz frequency which your reciever is unable to adjust and always try to play original dvds in players if you want your player's life long.

Hi, You can try testing the discs on a different player. The problem may be with a scratched disc or damaged disc. The player seems to be fine if it works with other discs. In any case, I have provided a link to the player's manual:

Can't read or play DVD's. Hunts for it the says NO READ.

Dirty optical laser head needs a cleaning or replacement. Also, make sure your DVDs aren't heavily scratched or smudged and that they are the same region # as your DVD is set to play. Repair cost and parts are not worth repairing, unless you do the job yourself. New DVD players with more bells and whistles are cheap now a days.

You are getting drop out of data from the DVDs, depending on the quality of the orinal DVD discs, some times they will deteriorate after few years. Look for any scratches on the lable side of the DVD. On some discs lable side where the reflective coating may not be protected well, if it is damaged it cannot be read.

Sony BluRaywon't play back disk

That is one of the problem with manufacturers that don't clearly explain the consumers that most of the blue ray dvd player is designed to play blue ray dvds &regular dvds, but it wasn't never designed to back any DVD-R or DVD-RW.
Sorry, there is no way around it,because Sony enjoyed being exclusive in many things.
