Question about Televison & Video
Our TV is doing the same thing. Our house came with two plasma's pre-installed, one of them is a Samsung HP5053X and it has the colored spots (it has had them since we moved in, the TV had a little previous use but it was still pretty much new when we moved in). Our other plasma (a Toshiba) is starting to get the colored spots as well.
It seems to be an internal error as the TV shows the spots even if no input is connected and the spots persist across inputs. I think it is probably in the input system as I have seen similar issues with VGA connections on computer monitors. I don't think it has to do with the plasma display.
Sounds like either an HPS5053 or HPR5053 both have adjustment controls on the Y board that should clear the spots.you will need to remove the back and mark the adjsuters postion with a sharpy , then with a picture turn these tiny controls to a midpoint with less dots/spots.
the Y board is left side facing the back of set. the controls are the lower two, s6001 or 6002 I think
