Why No Water in Tank?

We were just given an Everstar MCA08CR that has no issue history. It was used prior to 2009 but has been stored for about 9 months. It cools effectively without any scary noises or error messages...but no there's no water in the tank even after several hours of operation. No sign of water leaking or anywhere else.

After several hours of searching online, I've found several other people in the same situation but no explanations, solutions, dire warnings, etc.

thanks in advance!

after some mild trepidation, i decided to let it run while keeping a fairly constant eye on things. compressor kicked on and in a very short time very sweet cool air began flowing. for the next three hours, i powered down on the hour, checked the tank and found nothing. so...i left it running and about 7 hours later, i heard it beeping, the red light indicating a full tank was on and it switched from cool to fan. the tank was full so i emptied it and it is now filling about every 6 hours or so.

    thanks for your advice!

Sounds like the compressor is not coming on. Without physically looking at it it's hard to say what is causing it. One way you can test if the compressor is working or not is to measure your room air and them the air blowing out of the unit and you should have a temp difference of about 10 - 15 degrees. Hope this helps 2rns4u <*{{{>(

4. Faulty main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Faulty system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Faulty ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.

Vapor recovery

I came across this service bulletin that you will find helpful- I do believe the VCF is above the fuel tank; but if you call any diy auto parts store like NAPA, AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc.or even the parts department at Dodge, for pricing, they'll tell you exactly where it is located and they may even print out the schematic for you. Best wishes on your project. BTW, did you're "check engine" light go on? Did you get an OBD-II fault reading? Or fail an emissions test? Just curious for my own knowledge.

DISCUSSION:
Customer may report that the vehicle is hard to fill with fuel or that the fuel pump nozzle
shuts off repeatedly while trying to fill vehicle.
This customer complaint can occur due to a number of different causes. The fuel tank is
the least likely cause of this condition. The following Diagnostic procedure can be used to
diagnose the issues.

DIAGNOSIS:
1. Is the vehicle a LX/LE/LC/L2?
a. Yes >> proceed to Step #2
b. No >> proceed to Step #4
2. Idle the vehicle 60 to 90 seconds upon stopping.
3. Does tank refill properly?
a. No >> proceed to Step #4
b. Yes >> Inform the customer to idle the vehicle for 60 to 90 seconds upon stopping if
vehicle was driven aggressively. This is due to the fact that on the LX/LE/LC/L2 the
fuel tank is a unique saddle tank design and needs 30 to 60 seconds while the
engine is running to level the fuel in both half's of the fuel tank. Allowing the vehicle
to idle for this amount of time will let the fuel pump transfer fuel to the left side tank,
opening the control valve and allowing normal fuel filling.
4. Disconnect the vapor recirculation tube at the fuel tank.
5. Attempt to refill fuel tank.
6. Does tank refill properly?
a. Yes >> Proceed to Step #7
b. No>> Proceed to Step #11.
7. Reconnect the vapor recirculation tube at the fuel tank.
8. Disconnect the other end of the vapor recirculation tube at the fuel filler tube.
9. Attempt to refill fuel tank.
10. Does tank refill properly?
a. Yes >> Replace fuel filler tube.
b. No >> Replace the vapor recirculation tube.
11. Disconnect the control valve to EVAP canister tube at the fuel tank.

12. Reconnect the vapor recirculation tube at the fuel tank.
13. Does tank refill properly?
a. No >> Replace Fuel Tank.
b. Yes >> Proceed to Step #14.
14. Reconnect the control valve to EVAP canister tube at the fuel tank.
15. Disconnect the control valve to EVAP canister tube at the EVAP canister.
16. Attempt to refill fuel tank.
17. Does tank refill properly?
a. Yes >> Blockage is in the EVAP Canister, or ESIM, or Clean air hose (ESIM vent
hose), or filter. Diagnose appropriately.
b. No >> Replace the control valve to EVAP canister tube.

Don't know how much water to use

Do not put any water in the unit, the water that is in the unit drawer or bucket that is attached to the hose is a byproduct of the air conditioning process.

It transfers heat to cold and in the process produces condensation = Water.

Culligan RO sstem has recently stopped producing more that 6 oz

This might be a possible tank pressure issue. This could also be a clogged filter. I would first check the tank pressure by using the following steps

Necessary Supplies:
1) Tire Gauge marked in 5psi increments (ie 5, 10, 15, 20psi, etc.)
2) Bicycle tire pump for standard type bike tire valve

To recharge RO System Tank:

1) Close cold water feed valve (valve located at some point along the cold water line from street plumbing).*
2) Leaving RO tank valve on, turn tank on side & locate valve stem on bottom side.
3) Remove stem cap.
4) Drain all water out of tank through open RO faucet into sink. (Continue to leave RO faucet open throughout procedure)
5) If current tank pressure is insufficient to empty tank, apply tire pump to valve stem and pump 10 – 15 times. Exit flow will increase and then gradually decrease as pressure equalizes. Do not overcharge internal bladder of tank during this procedure.
6) Repeat step #4 until tank is completely empty. (Tank is empty when additional pumping produces no more water)
7) At this point, adjust EMPTY tank to exactly 7psi. (Gauge reading midway between 5 & 10psi is sufficient)
8) Turn off RO faucet.
9) Replace cap on valve stem and reposition tank in upright position.
10) Open cold water feed valve.*
11) System water is useable immediately, however, tank will take 3-4 hrs to completely refill.
