SOURCE: I HAVE A OLDER MODEL RCA HOME THEATER BIG SCREEN TV
I have the same tv at my place and I got Sears to come over and fix it. It cost me ~$90 for the initial visit then I ordered ~$140 part he recommended (voltage thing for crt) ordered and installed. He said that if that didn't work then he would have been able to return the part and it would have been the circuit board going out and that would have cost around $400 more. He said that if that were the case it wasn't worth it since you can buy one of these tvs used for around $500. The part he ordered worked on my tv and is doing fine.
I have an additional question though: is this tv HD ready for when all the signals change next year?

SOURCE: remote control code for 32 inch lcd EMERSON TV
I succeeded is using the DirectTV remote control for the Emerson 42" plasma TV, by using a Samsung code. On my TV, was 10060. If this one does not work, there are a bunch of others that might work. Good luck

This can be caused by a failed FRC board, in this model. It is not a T-Con failure, in my experience. If the other button tips suggested (holding input while powering on, holding the power button, unplugging for a few minutes, pressing and holding the power button for 30 seconds, plugging back in, etc.) do not work, this would be the board you need to replace. The FRC board is rather cheap (at least at the time of writing this, ~10 dollars total), so it is definitely worth the risk to give it a shot. It took me a good amount of headache to figure this out, and so I would love to pass this information on in hopes of helping the next person looking for it!
