It is a know problem on this particular speakers, 6700 on the sub. I recommend, you change the bad resistor inside or burn, if you got a tool for this. changed. I don't have the schematics, but you can call Creative Labs, to have the schematic, or buy only the SUB.

SOURCE: i bought a creative (inspire M4500) 4.1 speaker system.

Obviously you require a 4.1 system audio/sound card for the best sound output since it has inbuilt amplifier and OS specific driver(latest) which you should get along with the sound card. If you are using, check compaitibility issues to with Vista....................sodeep

I highly recommend the Creative INSPIRE M5300 5.1.It has a superb sound quality and is specially designed for gaming and movie.

SOURCE: i bought inspire m4500 but only 2 speakers are working....

put the black pin of ur headphone in mic jack of laptop(mostly red color) and green pin of ur headphone in output audio (mostly green).
