Question about Eureka Whirlwind 4388 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

'eureka whirlwind lite' vacuum - brushes turn but no real suction

Bought the 'eureka whirlwind lite' vacuum at a rummage sale - looked to be in good shape & sounded fine when turned on. doesn't really seem to **** dirt up when used tho. brushes turn & all that, but where exactly is the suction part? (doesn't seem like the rolling brush area actually has suction) i'm confused about the whole thing, & don't know if i just bought something that's all clogged, etc. (the guy didn't know anything about the filter, which i thought was weird) any simple things i can try?

SOURCE: How to change belt on Eureka Whirlwind

On the top cover, there are holes at the front on both sides, there is a screw on each side in one of the holes. Take the out, and the cover should come off, then you can get to the brush roll and belt.

SOURCE: I have the Eureka Whirlwind upright vacuum. All

If the belt isn't turning then it has snapped. Check the top of the hood for two or three crosshead screws; two at the front and one under neath by the left hand side if looking at the upright from the front. Its easy to fix if you take your time and you have a spare drive belt. Check EBAY in your country for spares.

After you put a new belt on make sure the roller beater is completely free of threads as this will keep the belt longer for running.

Hi,
It sounds like you just have a clog going on... maybe a sock or something. You might have to do a little disassembly of the roller to get to it.
Hope this hlelps... Good luck

Eureka Model Whirlwind litespeed. The rotart brush does not turn or rotate. Should it turn or rotate in order to give better suction?

Hello fnintel, yes, if you are using the upright vacuum it should spin, ( the belt likely slipped off, or the brush is clogged with hair and the likes.)
However, if you are using the hose on the vacuum like a shop vac, some models bypass the rotary brush.
Good luck!

No suction when vacuuming, but suction is good when using hose

check for blockage from where the hose sets in its
holder to the roller brush. Also see if the brush is
turning, the belt maybe broken.

There are 2 screws on the top cover, remove those and the cover comes off, then you can get to the brush roll and belt. Inspect the brush roll, make sure the ends turn freely, if not, then replace it also.

Eureka bagless whirlwing lite vacuum cleaner

On the top cover, one on each side will be a screw, take those out and the top cover should come off. While you have it off, check the brush roll to make sure it is turning freely, and replace the belt, they stretch after a short time and will give you problems.
