My sony xperia z keeps telling me there is no sim card and no service although the sim card is in the phone

Hi, well this problem means usually a problem with your sim card, no network coverage, hardware issue of the phone or the phone is blacklisted.

Hi the PUK code is the security code for the sim card and not any code to do with the phone, all you need to do to get the PUK code is call your service provider.
your service provider wont charge for giving you the code as the code belongs to you, all you need to tell them is your phone number or if you dont know that then the number printed on the sim card, they will then provide you with the 10digit PUK code for free over the phone.
this will then allow you to access the sim card.

The only place you can get the PUK code from is your service provider as their is no where else that keeps these codes, if you still have the card the sim card was attatched to then it will be written on their but if you no longer have this then the only way your going to get the code is by calling your service provider, they wont charge you for this as the code belongs to you,

you do have another option open to you though, if you dont need that sim card then you can go out and get another sim card and when you get given a new sim card you will get given the unique PUK code it will be written on the card the sim card is attatched to.

after that click copy to phone or move to phone..

It's simple to enter the NCK code in the Phone,you need to use the Instructions to enter the NCK code in the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 phone,find in which Country ,Network it locked now?

Try to insert another SIM card and check if the problem persist, if yes then there is some problem wiith your set.
Else, if other SIM is working then there will be some problem in the SIM which has got blocked for some reasons.

Get in touch with the service provide to get a new SIM for nominal charges.

You would have to put your sim card into your old phone and enter in your number. Although i think the cannot read sim card message does not affect any function of the phone. Hope this helps =)
