SOURCE: wont charge

It could be that your battery is defective/worn out. If the computer just shuts off immediately (doesnt try to hibernate/standby) then you're likely looking at replacing the battery. They can suddenly do things like this if a cell shorts out in the battery or due to common wear. But first, here are a couple of things you can try.

1. Try reseating the battery (pull it out and put it back in). Sometimes something that simple can fix the problem.
2. Try to calibrate the battery. Your computer may come with instructions on how to do this, but if not you can do it manually. Turn the computer on but go into BIOS (press F10 at the compaq logo screen). Don't load your operating system
Unplug your computer. If it turns off at this point, your battery is already toasted. Replace it.
If the computer keeps running, let it go until it finally shuts off due to battery drain. Then plug it back in and let it recharge completely. This will let the microchip in the battery learn its charge potential and may allow you to get more life out of it.

Note: Calibrating these batteries is good practice but it shouldn't be done very often. If your calibration doesn't work after 1 or 2 tries, you probably still are looking at a dead battery.

SOURCE: acer laptop wont turn on has power button light up

This is a common problem with Acer units, both desktop and laptop. The motherboard fails to read the system BIOS at startup. Removing the battery from a laptop merely removes the power source, but not the stored memory. If you are able to locate the CMOS battery, or the cell battery the size of a US quarter dollar, that is the system battery. Remove that, wipe with a lint free cloth (coffee filter) then replace.

If that effort fails upon replacing the cleaned CMOS battery and laptop eneregy source, then a new coin cell may be the solution.

If a new coin cell fails to resolve the problem, the motherboard itself is the culprit. Time for a new laptop or desktop.

Hope this helps you...

SOURCE: Base handset out of range

Try opening the phone battery compartment on the back of the phone, disconnecting the battery wire, then reconnecting the battery wire. Solved my "Out of Range" problem - phone came back on and worked properly.

SOURCE: computer wont stay on once power button is pushed

yes unfortunately with this series of laptops it is VERY common for the motherboard to fail because of something called an NVIDIA chipset so if you are not hearing any fans or hard drive activity for more than 3 to 5 sec than im sorry to say that this is what it is but you can however get new motherboards on ebay for a fair price! i am sorry and i wish you the best of luck.

My asus memo 7 inch tablet won't power up

This is a common problem with Asus devices. If the battery has drained completely, they don't like to come back to life.

Plug it in and leave it for a minute or so. Unplug the device, replug it, and hit the power button. The battery logo should appear, indicating that the device is powered off and connected to a charger. Now that the computer is awake (to display the message), hold the power button until the device powers up. You may have to hold the button down for up to 45 seconds.

Our telephone and answering machine quit working after a power outage. Pushed reset button but nothing changed. The letter E is in the window of the base unit. When unplugged the power supply and...

it sounds like the unit has taken a surge, which is a common side effect of power outages. unplugging and replugging make fix the issue but since you have already tried this, i would reccomend contacting the manufacturer. See if a replacement can be given or if you have warranty on the unit.

The E is most likly a refrence to general error. the main board for teh unit was probably damaged by the power outage.

I bought a 52" plasma

you can try unplugging it for 10 secs, then plugged back in. Press and hold the menu button and minus volume button on the actual tv. While still holding those two buttons, press the power button. Continued to hold the menu and minus volume button for additional 3 secs. The tv should turn on in about 30 secs. If that does not work call customer care.

Calling for a older friend> ac power outage happened within 30 secs of each other. Now computer comes on and begins startup showing screen but shuts down and starts up all over again and again

Unplug everything, wait a few seconds and retry startup. But it almost sounds like a virus or malware was uploaded into the computer. Also try startup in "Safe-Mode". Hold down key marked "F8" after pressing the power on button.

I just had a power outage. My garage door was open during the whole afternoon. I pulled the red trolley emergency cord and pushed the door down but I couldn't get it closed (locked). Why not?

IF THE OPENER IS IN THE OPEN POSITION THERE IS NOTHING TO LOCK IT IN THE CLOSED POSITION.
YOU CAN UNPLUG THE UNIT AND PLACE A VICE GRIP ABOVE A ROLLER ON THE TRACK. THIS WILL SECURE THE DOOR UNTIL POWER COMES BACK ON - DO NOT LEAVE THE UNIT PLUGGED IN - IT COULD BE DAMAGED BY A POWER SURGE WHEN THE POWER COMES BACK ON (ALL ELECTRONICS IN THE HOUSE SHOULD BE UNPLUGGED) ALSO IF YOU FORGET AND PUSH THE BUTTON THE VICE GRIP WOULD CAUSE THE DOOR TO COME OUT OF THE TRACK, MAKING YOUR CURRENT ISSUE SEEM SMALL.

Hi,
Sometimes you have to unplug the monitor from the power supply and wait at least 30 seconds before plugging back in, and make sure you don't need to press the reset button on the power strip.

GE 25931 Cordless Unavailable

I had the same problem recently due to a power outage during a storm. GE advised to disconnect the power cord and telephone cord on the "mother" unit. Wait five minutes. Then plug it back in.

I placed the "mother" phone back in the base. After the screen flashed on the "mother" phone, I removed it and then put the other two portables in the "mother" base.

This corrected my problem and all is now well.
