Question about Microwave Ovens
You should be able to remove the water filter housing from the front of the refrigerator, but you will need to shut off the water supply
before starting work from the front. Once you have the water off, with the unit still plugged into power, go to the dispenser and activate the water dispenser. This will remove the pressure off the lines for a step later. After that, disconnect the power to the refrigerator.
Once you have that done, just remove the front grill. It is attached by a clip on each side. Just pull with enough force to yank it loose. Sometimes it seems like you are going to break that plastic, so just be careful on that.
With the toe kick plate removed, you just remove the 2 screws securing the filter to the front frame of the unit. Reaching back along the left hand side of the house, there will be 2 water lines coming into it. There will be a small plastic ring on each connection. (If I remember right, one is red and the other is gray.) You will need to press these in, towards the filter housing to release the water lines and then pull the lines loose. There isn't much room to work and it isn't the easiest and if you don't want to break anything else and avoid the hassle, then you may just want to call a repairman out to fix it.
Otherwise, with that all done, the housing will slide right out. Let me know how this works out for you.

Hello. As you will see, for some reason your problem got listed as a microwave and not a fridge. That said, since you did not name the brand and model I will give you as good an answer as I can in the generic category. The filter case is attached to the frame of the fridge with two screws. If you get right down there after you remove the grill you will see them. they may be a bit of a challenge in close quarters but with the right tools you can remove them.
