Question about Frigidaire Dishwashers

1 Answer

Frigidaire dishwasher -- either very small amount, or no water at all coming in. What does the valve look like? It is behind the toe board. There's also a small black square dodad down there too. I'm so discouraged with the (only) two local so called repairmen around here. They tell me ''just wait until something goes wrong'' -- $65.00!!!!! My next degree is ''Appliance Repair''. Thank you for your concern. Sue

If you remove the panel at the bottom of the dishwasher you will see either a copper hard pipe, or a flexible steel hose leading into the water inlet valve.

BE SURE TO CUT OFF THE WATER SUPPLY. It is probably located under the kitchen sink- just follow the water line until you see a cutoff handle.

The valve is activated by an electromagnet- you will see a plug with two wires leading into the cylinder shaped solenoid (the magnet). After turning off the water, and disconnecting the water supply and the hose to the machine and the wires (it's a tight space, so be patient) check and see if the screen (just inside where the water supply line connects to the valve) is clogged with limescale. If it is, you can clean it out fairly well with CLR or Limeaway, and that might fix your problem.

Good Luck!

Washer won`t stop filling with water

Your float switch is stuck or your water valve is bad.
The float switch is located under and behind the toe kick panel on the dishwasher.
Remove the toekick panel and push up on the float switch.

My Bosch works very well. But when you idol it for several days, there will be a lot of water, if you don't clean up,soon or late got overflowed

If the dishwasher is filling to overflow level when not in use, you need to replace the water inlet valve/solenoid assembly. The valve is not closing fully allowing water to seep into the washer.

If you have a check valve for the water supply to the dishwasher, I'd suggest closing the check valve while the washer is not in use until the inlet valve has been replaced. If you don't have a check valve, if you leave the power switched on, the washer will automatically pump out when it reaches overflow level. The anti-flood protection system will stop the dishwasher overflowing as long as the power is on. Closing the check valve is by far the best option!

The inlet valve/solenoid is located behind the toe-kick below the door and is relatively easy to replace yourself. The only tools required are a Torx T20 screwdriver for removing the toe-kick and the valve.

If you are confident that you can undertake this repair yourself and have the tools, I've listed the part/supplier details and fitting instructions below. If you would prefer to call a service technician, make sure you aren't charged more than $30-35 and no more than an hour for labor.

Please note: This part relates to the Bosch SHX45M05UC/xx. If you do not have this model, verify the correct part number for your model before ordering.

Part number: 607335
Description: Water inlet valve (sometimes called water inlet or valve access)

This part is used on all versions of SHX45M05UC/xx, so it doesn't matter if the 'xx' on your model is 01, 02, 06, 12, etc.

Bosch - $28.10 plus shipping (in stock)
Sears Parts Direct - $24.49 + shipping (on backorder)

There is an option on this page to check part availability at local stores.

Appliance Part Pros - $29.21 + shipping (in stock)

(APP use their own part numbering. This part is listed as AP4070550)

Fitting instructions:
1. Switch off the power at the breaker and close the water supply check valve
2. Clear as much water from the sump as possible - a turkey baster works well for this
3. Remove the two Torx T20 screws from the toe-kick then tilt the toe kick out to remove it
4. Remove the base insulation (if fitted)
5. Disconnect the water supply line from the inlet valve
6. Make sure the sump inlet hose is clear of the inlet valve
7. Disconnect the wires from the water valve - make note of where to re-attach first!
8. Remove the two Torx T20 screws from the inlet valve
9. Pull out the inlet valve and disconnect the hose

A small amount of water will drain from the hose when you disconnect it (assuming you drained the sump first) so have something ready to catch the water if possible.

That's it. Refitting is the exact reverse of the above. This is a relatively simple repair, but it's a good idea to take digital photos as you go along so you can refer back to them when re-fitting parts.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions or need assistance should you decide to replace the valve yourself, please let me know.

Soap door opens but soap stays in the resevoir. Often the door is open but the soap in a pile on the door when we open the dishwasher

Two things cause this issue. A loading issue or not enough water. If you only put plates on the bottom I would suspect the water valve on the left behind the toe kick is bad.

Model: Frigidaire GPDB998JC0 It fills and drains

Check your water level to see if the water valve is even filling up properly. After starting the cycle, listen when the water fillup begins and ends. Open door and see if there is enough water at the bottom. Should fill up to the float valve. If there is not enough water, the valve needs to be replaced. Costs about $25 and can be replaced diy if you are handy with pushing back the hose clamp and undoing and redoing the water line connection.
Make sure you unplug the electric, and shut off the water before you even want to look behind the toe plate. Dishwashers have high electric hazard behind the toe plate..

M/c not filling with water water is on changed solinod valve

It may be that it is airlocked the one way to check this is to take water pipe off valve remove 2 screws in valve then about 4 screws in the plastic panel by valve and prise out from body.just beside the valve is a small pink pipe with a bung in it remove this and you should see water, let it out onto a towel only a small amount normally.then put back as you found it and panel etc.Try again and see if water comes into unit.If not then you need to remove the front plastic base under door 2 screws with door down. Then a steel plate behind that remove 2screws.shine a torch and locate the pressure switch on L.H.S. make sure power off now remove small plastic pipe from switch then put back on then try again. If no joy then the pressure switch is at fault.

Good Luck.

Dishwasher wont drain completely

most dishwashwashers are designed tpo leave a small amount of water at the bottom to keep the seals moist and not dryour and crack (then leak). If it is just a little bit taht is the issue. If it is a significnat amount of water then there most likely is an issue with the check valve.

Does not let water come through n I can hear the pump running .It is a frigidaire dw3200p*1

Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

Dishwasher not draining completely

I was having the same problem with water sitting at the bottom of my dish washer. I had recently installed a new garbage disposal when the problem started. You need to make sure that you knock out the inlet valve where the disposal drain line hooks up. If you have never hooked up a washer to your disposal, this piece will be in place. Stick a flat head screwdriver in where the drain hooks up and hit it with a hammer and the small plastic circle will pop out. The washer does not use any water when that is blocked and therefore will leave the old water to turn rancid...I hope this helps!
