Here is my problem, a bit long but almost the complete story! I have 4 year old MESH X-Treme FX60, running XP2. It has an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe PCI-Express Mainboard, 2 Serial ATA Hard drives and (according to Mesh documentation, 2 256 nVidia Ge force 7800 GT - DVI - SLI Configuration). When I look inside the case I have two linked cards with ASUS trademark. I had left the machine running for about 4 hours and when I came back to it there was a blank screen. No matter what I did I could not get it to respond. I rebooted the machine a number of times and the best response I got was to get to the login screen but the keyboard/mouse and graphic pad would not respond. Rebooted a number of times and then there was no response from the monitor. I did get a beep code of 1 long 3 short 1 short (checked this many times). I cleaned the memory contacts and got as far as "Windows did not shut down properly etc" but no response from keyboard/mouse or graphic pad, the countdown stopped at 19 seconds. Checked the monitor on another computer. Rebooted and all I get now is the error code. I have removed all cards and cleaned the contacts, swapped the memory about all fans are running. Replaced the motherboard fan battery, reset the jumper. I have only just noticed that one of the graphic cards has a bright blue light at one end the other only a glimmer near the its fan. Is this the culprit? I did have a chip fan replaced 4-5 months ago and I notice that it is not seated down all that well on the motherboard although it is running. Fried chip? Without any memory sticks it gives one long beep and then a short one, repeating. Without the video cards it gives the same error beeps I originally described Another thing, a friend of mine used a utility called (I think) ERD Commander in the cd drive, it just sat there whiring. The machine seems to go through the boot process, floppy disc whirls, hard drives whirl, hard disc activation lights on the outside flash and flicker. All to no avail!! Do you think this machine could be sorted at a cost that wil be better than buying a new PC? Sorry for the long discription. Cheers Jim Marsh

I have a Biostar AMD R690A-M2T board, I have it setup to boot up when I turn on the power strip to it. Occasionally it will not boot as if the MB got reset to factory spec (or the battery failed). I then have to hit del to get to the bios and reset the date and eliminate the floppy (because there isn't one). I don't think the MB battery is bad but unsure. What can I look for??
system is slower than normal and freezes without warning. Thermal throtelling is off.
