What OS and browser are you using?
There are some recent security updates to IE, but your settings shouldn't have changed....
For IE, Go to the browser Tools menu>Manage Add-Ons>Select Show all add-ons and see if your Java plug ins are installed and enabled. (The current version is 1.6.0_14. If yours are older, go to the Java site and update them...)
Then go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced and scroll down to Java and make sure it is checked.
