SOURCE: The brush bar on my Dyson DC17 stopped turning.

If this model has a brush control - i.e a roller at the side of the model which controls brush to spin or not, then its a protected brush model - therefore even if the drive belt is intact the Dyson would have to be repaired by a service personnel or professional. The brush protection isn't able to be taken apart and sounds like it may well have slipped off due to tension.

SOURCE: New Roomba 560 beep twice, ask to clean brushes, but no dirt

your roomba is thinking that you need to clean the brushes. if too much load it put on your brush motor--the unit will think that something is wrapped around the brush and slowing down the motor. if you have cleaned your brush and are sure that is not the problem; you need to look for anything else that could be slowing down the brush/motor. If this is inconclusive you need to put your roomba into diagnostic mode by following the procedures in the link below http://swiftracer.com/index.php?myPage=RoombaDiagnosticMode.php

SOURCE: the brush bar wont spin on my dyson dc 25... i

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Simply switch the machine off and stand it upright. Press the brush bar on/off switch once and then turn the machine back on.

When you release the machine into the vacuuming position, the brush bar should start to turn again.

If you still having problems, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards

SOURCE: Red off/on flashing, roller brush not moving and no blockage

If this has a rotory brush (spins) than check the belt. Take the bottom part off, (should be about four screws) and check to ensure the belt is on and the motor shaft is not just spinning. Usually when this happens you'll smell the belt burning. After so long the belt gets thinner, and will break.

If the belt is in good repair, turn it on with it laid on it's back, and watch to see the brush(es) are turning. If not, I suggest contacting the customer service department of it's manufacturer for further details and repair solutions.

Please, let me know if you need any further assistance with this.

DYSON V6 BRUSH NOT WORKING

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

My Dyson V6 absolute is pulsating when I pull the trigger. I have cleaned the canister and checked for obstructions. I also cleaned the top filter.

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your Dyson cleaner is pulsating off and on. First, it maybe due to a battery of the unit. Make sure that the power cable is properly plug to the power and seated properly from the unit while charging. If you find that the battery isn't charging at all, you may need to replace the battery. Second is to check the MAX button of your cleaner. If the button lights up and flashes when your Dyson keeps on pulsating, press and hold the power button and depress the MAX button to turn off the function. You may need to do it for a few times to get the hang of it. Third is to check for any blockages or clogs in the attachments. Look down through the tube and check to see if there are clogs on the sweeper end or if the roller is tangled up in fibers. Clean the roller brush are if it it's necessary. You may need to empty the dust bin of your unit as debris can build up in hard to reach places. Lastly, cleaning the filters may fix the pulsating of your cleaner. Remove the filter and rinse it with cold water and air dry it for 12 hours. Don't use detergent when washing your filters. If the pulsating doesn't go with the given quick fix, I suggest to contact Dyson for further assistance on this.

Have a Dyson v6 for several months. Roller brush stops turning a soon as I start to push forward after staring trigger. Examined & cleaned roller & surrounding head & find no objects interfering.

The Dyson V6 has an electric motor in the power head. The battery is in the handle unit. So power has to get from the battery head unit down to the motor at the floor roller brush. The way they do this is to send the power around the plastic debris cup that you empty, and then into the connector for the tube and out the bottom of the tube to the roller brush motor. Your problem is probably that there is a lost contact along the way. Try plugging the roller brush directly into the head unit leaving the tube out and see if it is intermittent or if it runs fine. In that case the problem is one of the contacts associated with the down tube. If the roller brush is intermittent even when plugged directly into the head unit, then the problem may be the connection associated with the debris cup. remove the cup and make sure the contacts are clean. Hope this helps. G

How do I adjust height for carpet brush on DC28 Dyson animal?

Hi Laura, it's Jack at Dyson

DC28's selector pad (located by the red on/off switch) allows you to select the correct height setting for the particular flooring you're cleaning. Patented Dyson Airmuscle technology will then raise or lower the rotating brush bar within the cleaner head to the correct level for optimum performance, or shut it off for cleaning bare floors or delicate rugs.

Dyson Animal 17 - brush stopped turning

The belt will stop itself from spinning if you accidentally picked up a shoestring or vacuumed the edged of a carpet and the carpet got caught. To have the brush spinning again, simply step on the front of the machine, pull back the handle, turn the machine on with the red power button and press the gray button next to the red button - that's the ON/OFF button for the brushbar. If it doesn't spin, press and hold the button down for 10 seconds. If it still doesn't work, call the Dyson helpline, they'll have you open up the cleaner and inspect the belt and brushbar motor and if all else fails, they'll refer you to a local repair dealer in your area to fix it.
