If it's a tube amp, it may be on Standby and needs to be switched to Play. It may also be a bad cord. Plug a different guitar into the system and eliminate at least that part.

Turn your guitar away from the amp's speakers. The pickups on the guitar are feeding the amp's signal back into the amp creating a feedback loop, especially with the gain button on. Loud volumes cause this looping path between the amp speakers and guitar pickups. You may need to reduce amp volume also.
have you checked the speaker leads in the back to make sure they are hooked up> if so, you have power to amp? Volume knob turned up? is guitar cord good? (try it in a different amp , or check w/ an ohm meter) . Does the guiter have active pick-ups? If so, is battery good? and last, is the volume knob on guitar up" try all that and get back to me

If the guitar is at fault its either the battery, the connection cord, the little pre amp in the guitar body (you can't fix that) or you have put nylon strings on the guitar which needs stell strings for the pickup to work.

IF YOUR GUITAR has a built in tuner, make sure the tuner is off as it disables output while tuning... The other thing is to check if you have a volume control on the guitar that might be set too low.. Make sure if you are using 1/4 inch plug guitar cable that it is NOT a TRS balanced cable, as that will turn off the power in the guitar.
Here are some things to check:
- Are all volume controls turned up 1/2-way?
- Try a different guitar patch cable.
- Does your amp have remote switchable inputs? Is your guitar plugged into the *active* channel on the amp?
- Is the amp turned on?
Hi Dan I wish I could just say what to fix, but you can not do this at home. Line 6 is a great amp and worth the time taking it down to the music shop , to be looked at an give you a repair estimate. good luck keep on rocking in the free world. DFD
I can say with a fair amount of certanty that this is the control knob on your guitar, these are fairly cheap and if you have any mechanical ability you can replace it yourself, there will be some soldering involved so if you can't do that I would take it to your local music store and most have some sort of repair department, this shouldn't be a big bill to get fixed.
