Question about Xerox Office Equipment & Supplies
I just got this docucolor 12 just from overseas but was working fine.
When I first turned it on and try to pass a copy, it appeared on the screen System Failure, turn machine off and then back on. With the error code 6-360.
I researched and find out that this has to do with a Carriage position Failure.
Do you know how can I fix this?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Place the scan carriage in its home position by hand, slide it all the way to the edge it starts from.

Effectively error 6-360 is Carriage Position Failure.
Do a first basic reset unplugging printer power cord for five minutes.
If problem is still there you will need to access the service menu and reset NV-RAM, where the fault code is stored.
To reset NV-RAM :
Entering Diagnostic Mode: First enter the User Interface (UI) Diagnostic Mode in the following way:
Turn on the power then while holding down the ‘0’ button, press ‘Start’. The screen will
prompt you for an Access Number. At that point use the keypad to enter ‘6789’ which is the Default
Access Number. This should bring you to a menu of options to choose from:
Chose NVM Reset (Non Volatile Memory) / NVM Initialization
If the code comes back, then there is a fault. To fix the fault check and eventually replace the encoder strip, if there is ink on the encoder strip , clean it. The encoder strip is the plastic strip located behind the ink carriage, its function is determining ink carriage position.
If the encoder strip is fine, then check carriage contacts and carriage position sensor in contact with encoder strip.
If the printer is new , resetting non volatile ram should fix the problem.
