Hi, The most common reason for the dryer to long to dryer is the venting. Make sure the vent is open all the way outside and the flap in the vent hood is working properly. Make sure the vent is not pinched off.
please let me know if this helps you at all.

Thanks
Vic

GE dryer dwsr463eg7ww timer isn't working and doesnt heat up

The heating element assembly warms the air before the air enters the dryer drum. If the dryer won't stop, it may be because the heating element assembly isn't working - which greatly increases the drying time. Check the heating element for continuity. http://www.repairclinic.com/RepairHelp/How-To-Fix-A-Dryer/7-3-850356-/GE-Dryer-won-t-stop-DWSR463EG7WW

Hours to dry. I have a GE Profile Wizard model DPSE592EA2WW electric dryer that barely gets warm and takes hours to dry a single load.

as i do not have diagram of your dryer i can only guess for you,(i am not an expert.) The element is usually in the back of the drum (at air intake). Air is blown in, heated, then goes out the opposite side where it is vented.does it heat any better at another temp setting, say MED. opposed to HIGH? This may help temporarily. Replacing element isn't hard if you are mechanically "handy", but you may first want to consider the the age of the dryer, cost of a new part, and your time. Often a used dryer is a worthwhile alternative. To replace:Remove screws to remove back panel. The heating element should look something like a flat hair dryer (basically that's what it is).If your lucky your part will come with instructions, but this would be the exception. The unit should slide or clip to plug in and out. Screws aren't usually used in this application.IF YOU HAVE A MULTITESTER, AND THE KNOW HOW, YOU CAN CHECK FOR CONTINUITY AND RESISTANCE THROUGH THE TEMP SWITCH. This will give you an idea if the element is your problem. It should be one of the two. Hope I've helped.

Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

GE DNXR47GW1WW Dryer is extremely slow to dry clothes (takes over 2 hours per load). The dryer does heat. Any suggestions?

Check the following areas thoroughly to address this issue.

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat.

3. Heating element
A heating element might only be partially burned out, in which case it would still work but will take longer time to dry the clothes. Replace the element if found defective. (if this is a gas dryer, please disregard this statement)***

GE dryer will not dry towels

How warm is "warm"? If the clothes are warm to hot after 15 minutes of running but not gettign dry, you do not have a heating element problem. Sounds like you still have an air flow problem. Does the heating element cycle often? You may have lint clogged at he entrance to the blower. This would be out of sight from the exhaust. Try removing the exhuast hose and running it in air-only and feel the amount of air leaving. It should feel like a lot of air coming out. If not, you will need to check the condition of the blower. I had this same issue and ended up pulling the blower cover off and pulled out a very large amount of lint..it was almost completely clogged. Afterwards it drys really fast! Good-Luck.

PS If you do not feel comfortable accessing the blower, you should have a professional do it for you.
