If the motor is getting hot enough to shut down it's time for a new motor. Many of the new motors need to be ordered in as 110v or 220v and are no longer able to be wired eather way. You will need to take the pump apart and take it in to a motor shop and have them get you a new one or a reconditioned one and they can tell you how to wire it as every brand is different.

Low voltage and hi voltage is just 220 and 110 can i still make the pump have two speeds

The 220v / 110v are the two wiring options on that motor. They usually come pre- wired for 220. The wiring can be changed to where it will run on 110. Be sure to get it right. if you wire a 110v motor to 220v it will go bang and die.
A two speed motor will have two hot wires, one common, and one ground (4 wires). Single speed will have three wires. You can't make a single speed motor a two speed motor.

How do I wire a Polaris PB4-60 in the USA (115V)?

I am not sure if this will help you out any, but here goes:
Line1 & Line 2 are your Hot Power Wires coming into the motor.
It does not really matter which wire goes to which post of the motor.
This will remain true if you are bringing in 110-115-120 (these are all the same, people just refer to them differently) which also is referred to at times as "Low" voltage, and the same goes for 220-230-240 (again, referred to differently) which is referred to at times as "High" voltage.
Whether bringing in Low voltage or High Voltage, the wires you bring in will number only three:
  • Ground
  • Hot
  • Hot (potentially Hot)
Low Voltage (115) will have:
  • 1 Absolute Hot Wire = Line 1. Normally Black
  • 1 Potentially Hot Wire = Common/Nuetral Line 2, normally White
  • Ground/Earth = Normally Green
High Voltage (220) will have:
  • 1 Absolute Hot Wire - Line 1, Normally will be same color as Line 2 or Black/Red
  • 1 Absolute Hot Wire - Line 2, Normally will be same color as Line 1 or Red/Black
  • Ground - Green
In either of the above voltages, it does not matter which wire goes where, as long as a Hot wire goes onto Line 1 and the other "Hot or Potentially Hot, if 110", goes onto Line 2. Do not put a Hot wire anywhere else and Do Not put a Ground wire on either Line 1 or 2!

Most Motors are coming out of the factory wired for High Voltage Set up (220), so you will have to move some wires or a terminal block, to set the motor to operate at "Low" voltage (115). These motors are "Dual" Voltage, they have the capability to run either 110 or 220. But they don't magically know which voltage is being supplied.

Good Luck

Unless it's a 110 tub, you don't. If the system is designed to run on 220 the circ pump and flow pump will not function properly, the power pack may not function and the tub will never reach temp. If it is a 110 hot tub I would still suggest having a licensed electrician run the line for you. Most insurance companies will not cover any type of hot tub related claim unless installed by licensed tub tech/electrician. If you insist on wiring it yourself, the BLACK wire is the "hot" wire carrying the current. In 220 installations the RED wire is the second "hot" wire. The WHITE/GREY is the neutral wire, and the GREEN is the ground. But again, I STRONGLY recommend paying the $80-$95 bucks to have it done professionally. I hope this helps =)

I have a goodman cpe30-1ab we set it to cool the out side pump and fan run about 5min and shut down the power relay starts to buzz and the fan moter gets hot real hot. all three wires to the fan have 110...

This could be several things. First turn of the power and make sure the fan turns freely using a screwdriver or something else that you can reach the blades with. If they do not turn easily you may need a new fan motor. If the fan stops, head pressure on the compressor will go up until it trips the High Pressure switch. It will also make the fan work harder so that it gets extremely hot just as you describe. Let me know what you find and we can go from there.

How do I change the electric wire in a franklin ground water pump from 230v to 115v? I purchased a Red Lion 3/4 hp convertible ground water pump but must change the power and wiring from the pumps...

You have 4 wires coming out of the fuse box , one white , one bare, one black, one red, right? The fuse is a double pole, 220 volt, ?30?amp, guessing, and you are now wiring up to a 110 volt, motor which needs 20 amps, so, remove one wire from the breaker, red or black, shut it off first, pull the wire off, tape it and mark it what it was. leave the red wire on there, or the black, it doesn't matter, Now you have one hot, one ground, one neutral, hook them up to the pump, the box on the pump has screws, one silver, one brass, the brass is always hot, the colored wires are always hot, The silver screw is neutral, the white is neutral, always, and the ground wire goes to the ground screw, maybe outside of the box. You should be all set, tape off the old colored wire you didn't use and mark it . You might need it someday. Hope this helps.

1998 Neon. Fuel pump problems...

Has the car been running one day and won't start the next and thats why you replaced those parts? This may be the distributor ignition modual later then when it is going out can act like its got demon in it. This modualator will shut power down to your fuel pump.

Now you can try something first though. Run a wire from a hot wire to the fuel pump and see if it will start and run while that wire is hooked up.
If it does then you can find a wire that only becomes hot when the key is turned on so the pump won't run all the time and only when the car is running. This is called gerry riggen in the service and not the proper way to do it. You may get an engine line on because of it too which will put the computer into trouble mode and cut your power down. But maybe not. Try it and see what takes place. If it still won't start then we need to look into testing the ignition modualator. Keep me informed and I will be glad to help you in the matter as well. Raz

I have a dual volage pump motor ( 120 v.-240 v ) and i need to know the color code for it ....which color wire goes to what ? i have no water for 3 days at house ...wife very upset ....please help this is...

Since you did not provide the wire colors, and motor
brand name. I'll recommend to you to get in touch with the dealer where you buy the pump. They will surely give you the right wire combination for 110v or 220v. I believe your pump is still under on year warranty. Just send in your e-mail comments for us to give further assistance. God bless you.

The GRAY wire i believe going to the fuel pump is the hot wire it should come on for 2 seconds with just the key in the on position this is were you should check voltage for 2 seconds then it will go away until you crank the truck.Your oil sending unit is behind your distributor that could be the cause .
