Our brand new Contec ECG 1200 is tracing way to lightly. Can barely read. The unit is registering full charge. Also is not printing patient data. Help!

The Contect site does not offer document downloads for this machine but there is a contact page. The company headquarters is in Japan with subsidiaries in China and India (manufacturing, I suspect).

Here is a video on how to load paper into an alternative ecg machine. Perhaps the process is similar. I suspect calling the provider of the machine you have is an option to try.

I would reset the machine to factory defaults. Leads to be printed can be manipulated but the factory setting is to print a full 12 lead.

settings-> system setup-> restore defaults-> yes -> hit start until you are back at the main screen and hit print again ( to get a print out)

Ekg machines print on thermal paper, This means that the impression is made by the print head heating the paper. If the print head is not making contact with the paper, you will get a faint tracing or no tracing at all. This needs to be adjust by a technician. Contec is located in China and we are a dealer. The Schiller AT1 is a battery powered unit. A common symptom of weak/defective battery's is that it will stop printing after 1-2 seconds of run. As to whether the patient cable effects this, I honestly don't know, It really shouldn't, baring some very weird internal short in the cable. The battery in the AT1 is beyond the average user to safely replace. Before anything else insure that the AC indicator light illuminates when the unit is plugged in. If not, you device might have a defective power supply. In either case, the unit needs repair in a Qualified shop.

There is some problem with the patient cable. Any one of the lead is broken inside. AT2 senses the presence of all the lead first and then only it will acquire the ECG and store it in its memory,after that it will print the ECG.
If any one of the lead have some problem. it will not go to the next procedure. and will indicate the lead off light.

1. check are you connected the lead correctly.
2. clean the electrode properly.
then try one more time. if problem remains. you have to replace the patient cable.

check the patient cable. if there is any break ( inside ) in the lead it will this problem can occur. also check is the patient cable properly inserted in the socket or not.
if any lead is broken the ecg will not print, also show interference in the display.
try to change the patient cable.

You did not mention which version of the cms-50 that you own and apparently there are several. But the link includes different versions so you should be able to download what you need.
