Try to restart your laptop, when you see the IBM Thinkpad logo press F8 several times until it gives you a black screen menu with some option. Try the "use last known good configuration" first and see if it works, otherwise try to access in safe mode. Once you're in, try a system restore, and bring the computer back to a date you think it should work.
To access System restore you go unser start - programs - accessories - system tools.
Good luck

try booting into safe mode first F8, see what that gives you. if that fails load your original boot disk if you have vista os. load that disk and select repair to see if you have any issues. once your inside. i recommend using a command to repair any files that may be corrupt or changed. so once you get in go to start, select run and type cmd.exe once the black screen comes up type in sfc /scannow you will need to have the original os disk inside the drive. this command will go through and search any system files that have been changed. let me know if that helps or you need any other assistance
good luck!

Apparently someone gained access to your Macbook and enabled the password login feature of the operating system.
The login window that is displayed has a button for "Forgot Password". Click this button to see whether the person that set the password lock provided a cute hint for the password.
If they did not provide a hint, I would question anyone that has recently had the opportunity to access your Macbook to see whether they set the password lock. They would have the password.
