it's under settings, you need to do a factory reset as it were, which will wipe it clean. then you can set it up to your specs.

You would have to get the old password and stuff from the other people or you can just buy a new harddrive and I think that should work.

SOURCE: Bought it 2nd hand

After conducting extensive research, I have concluded that there is no ID and/or password to reset. According to my research, this is an "unmanaged" switch. It's plug-and-play all the way.

You have to recover your gamertag for these arcade games to be played again, it's like an anti - piracy feature of the Xbox 360System not to allow data transfer wihtout prior notice. On your new Xbox 360 System:

• press the xbox guide button
• if your are signed in to your profile, you have to sign out first
• after signing out, press the Xbox guide button again and select recover gamertag
• on the next page, confirm on the prompt and follow the onscreen prompt to recover your gamertag

This should allow you to manage and play your downloaded Xbox Live Arcade Games.

I need to lock my xbox

You can use a Family Setting Pass Code to restrict access

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/family...

You can also set Family Timer settings to restrict time

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/family...

When they type in the wrong pass code, they can access the reset pass code question. So just make sure they can't guess the answer to your pass code question or you might find yourself locked out.

I have put a family settings password but i have forgot it

I had this problem when I bought my Xbox 360 used - the owner had a family password and didn't take it off before sending it to me!
The only fix I know of and what worked for me was to call Microsoft at 1-800-4MY-XBOX. They were able to reset it for me.

If children use your Xbox console, you can set a pass code to control access to features and options. Because Family Settings exist for both the console and for Xbox LIVE accounts, you can set pass codes for both.
Here you can learn how to:
Set an Xbox LIVE Pass Code
When you set an Xbox LIVE pass code for your profile, anyone who wants to use that profile will need to enter the pass code before signing in to Xbox LIVE.

To set an Xbox LIVE pass code:
  1. Go to My Xbox and open your profile.
  2. Select Manage Account, Xbox LIVE Pass Code.
  3. Enter a four-button code using the X andY buttons, triggers, bumpers, and directional pad on your controller.
  4. Confirm your code by entering it again.
To reset your pass code, repeat this procedure at any time. (You will have to enter your original Xbox LIVE pass code before you can create a new one.)

Set a Family Settings Pass Code
When you create a Family Settings pass code, anyone who wants to change family settings on your console will need to enter the pass code first.

You can also use your Family Settings pass code to override game and movie settings if you (or those with whom you share your pass code) want to play games or watch DVD movies that your console settings normally block.
For example, you could give the pass code to your 18-year-old so that she can watch R-rated movies that your younger child is not allowed to see.
To set a pass code for your console:
  1. Go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
  2. Select Family Settings, Console Controls.
  3. Select Set Pass Code.
  4. Select Pass Code, then enter a four-button code using the X and Y buttons, triggers, bumpers, and directional pad on your controller.
  5. Confirm your code by entering it again.
  6. Choose a pass code reset question.
  7. Select Pass Code Reset Answer and enter your answer using either your Xbox 360 controller or a standard USB computer keyboard plugged into a controller port on your console.
  8. Select Done from the Set Pass Code screen, then select Done once more from the Console Controls screen. When prompted, select Yes, save changes to put your new settings into effect.
To reset your pass code, repeat this procedure at any time.
Reset a Forgotten Pass Code
To reset your pass code after you've forgotten it:
  1. Go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
  2. Select Family Settings, Console Controls.
  3. Enter an incorrect pass code.
  4. You'll be told that your pass code is incorrect. SelectReset pass code.
  5. You'll then be shown your pass code question and asked to answer it.
  6. Set a new pass code, following the directions in the previous section.
If you've forgotten the answer to your pass-code reset question as well as your pass code, call Xbox Customer Support at 1-800-4-MY-XBOX (1-800-469-9269).

I bought a used Xbox360 and the family timer is set on it. I want to reset this but unable to. There is a description on here that is a gentleman explaining how to solve the issue but its not working for...

When the Xbox 360 Family Settings are first setup, you are required to give it a four-button pass code in order to add or change settings.

There are two ways to edit or remove the Family Timer.

If you do have the pass code:
  1. Go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
  2. Select Family Settings, Console Controls.
  3. Enter your pass code.
  4. Select Family Timer.
  5. Select Disable.
  6. Select Done.
  7. Select Yes, save changes.
Now your timer should be disabled!

If you do not have the pass code:
  • Try contacting the previous owner.
  • Call Xbox Customer Support at 1-800-469-9269
