To check the element you need a continuity test this test insures there aren't any breaks in the heating element that you can't see. If there is continuity then you possible could have a hi limit switch (this looks like a small round button about the size of a dime, located in the housing holding your element) burnt out. If the element is burnt out there will be no continuity on the element. If there is continuity then take the hi lmit swithch out and replace it. Take the model and serial numbers to an appliance parts store for replacement. Good Luck

My Maytag MDE4000AYW electric dryer is not heating and drying my clothers

Check for a blocked vent. If the vent is blocked or restricted it will cause the thermo fuse to blow. If the thermo fuse is not blown check for a broken heating element. I hope this may help.

Dryer won't heat maytag neptune mde 5500 ayw

Hi

If the dryer is not drying the clothes then you would need to check for the following things-

Electric Dryer---

1. Inspect the fuses and circuit breakers they may have burned out or tripped. Usually, dryer will still tumble but not create heat if a fuse or a circuit breaker is not working.

2. Check for the amp reading at 240 V, it should have reading of 24, 21 and 3 amp (approx.) for 2 lines and neutral respectively.

3. Heating element may have turned or the connection to the element might be loose. Sometimes a shorted circuit element will keep on blowing the fuse or circuit breaker.

4. Motor wiring shorting to ground.

Hope this helps...

No heat coming from dryer

Double check the circuit breaker for the dryer (Electric Neptune). Turn it off, then turn it back on. Its possible that the breaker may have tripped for some reason, but wasn't able to trip all the way.

Does the interior of the dryer get warm at all? You could have a 1 of multiple heating elements that has shorted. If no heat at all, the likely a heating element has opened up. Unplug dryer from wall (turn off circuit breaker first!). Use a ohm meter to measure and check continuity of the heating elements.

There may also be a sail switch in the air path of the dryer. The purpose of the sail switch is to keep the elements turned off until there is enough air blowing through the dryer. This helps prevent fires, as well as shrunken denim.

My maytag neptune eletric dryer is not drying my cloths only cold air circulates. checked continuity of heat element, good, no limits or fuses open, 120volts to each side of the element. What am i missing?

Should have 240 volts at element.  If it has continuity, you will read the same voltage on either side.  Check across the element for 240.  If you only have 120 check for 240 across the two outside terminals where the cord hooks up.  More than likely either a half tripped breaker or defective breaker.

Maytag Neptune Dryer-stopped heating

first, check the exhaust, make sure every inch of it is clean on the inside. if there is any blockage, the heat will build up in the exhaust and a sensor will shut down the heating element.

I have the same problem--it is the heating element. Bad news is they don't make the part anymore. The solution from maytag.com is to buy a new one and they will reimburse you 15%...not a very good solution considering how much this one cost and the amount of years it has been used.
If you find a place that sells the heating element please post!
