Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

My Necchi sewing machine worked before I sewed on buttons with it. Now I have to hand turn the hand wheel and it sews one stitch at a time. The motor sounds like it wants to go faster yet it won't. I have cleaned and oiled it and still no change. All of the knobs are set on the usual sewing positions. Help.

It sounds like your machine needs servicing. have you oiled all moving parts inside machine? is the belt tight enough that it is not slipping?

you should have your machine serviced by a technician every 2 or 3 years.

Most sewing machines can use a double needle, the one with the single mounting shank and it turns into two needles.
MAKE sure you have Zig Zag needle plate installed to accomodate the double needle.
Turn hand wheel slowly to test then use thread and fabric and turn flywheel by hand to test sew.

Thread got caught while winding endless bobbin motor got hot. Machine said to save design, turn off machine and let cool. The machine will power up but won't sew. You can make stitches by turning the hand...

No familiar with this model...But, It could be a fuse has burnt?? Especially if the motor was working double time . The fuses are usually 2.5 to 3 Amp. Make sure to leave it off for several hours then try to turn it back on first. If that doesn't help, take it in and explain the issue. Fuses are cheap and usually not to timely to change

What is your stitch length set to? Is it possibly set to a low number? should be 2 or 3 for a normal stitch.

There is a website for the USA Necchi importer, http://allynint.com/index.html, Contact Information

Hi. My name is Sue. Could you please let me know if our Necchi sewing machine has a blanket stitch or not? The model number is 4825. Thank you

Hi Sue,

I found that the blanket stitch is also called a "whip stitch" or a "crochet stitch" and looks like this:

I tried to look for instructions or a manual on the web for your machine, but there's little to find. I did find a picture of the stitch selector - and it looked to me that the RED "D" or "F" :

was as close as that machine was going to get to it. I'm not a sewing machine person - so that may not be correct.

Good luck!

I can't find reverse on my necchi 536fb. I inhereted the machine it's pretty old but works great. Sewing would be much easier if i had a forward/reverse button. Thx

Hi! Sewing is so much easier with a forward/reverse button! :-) I have a Necchi 536 fb also. Here's a picture of mine: efebd8b.jpg
The knob on the lower right controls the stitch length and forward/reverse. Push the center part in to get reverse and release it to go forward again.

You really need a manual for your machine--my Miss Sophia came from a pawn shop so I ordered one from relics.com (http://pages.sewing-machine-manuals.com/173/PictPage/1923115740.html) for $17.00.

I love my Necchi--you can read about her at www.robbiesews.blogspot.com if you like.

Happy Sewing!

Making a buttonhole on a Necchi 3204 sewing machine

Here's what the manual says:

Before sewing, fit the button-hold foot to the machine (long white plastic thing with red, ruler like markings).

Select the pattern selector dial that is solid green on the left hand side. Set the dial to "1" position. Sew the left side and raise the needle.

Select the pattern selector dial that is solid green on the top and bottom. Set the dial to "2" position. Sew 5-6 stitches and raise the needle.

Select the pattern selector dial that is solid green on the right hand side. Set the dial to "3" position. Sew the right side. Raise the needle.

Select the pattern selector dial that is solid green on the top and bottom. Set the dial to "4" position. Sew 5-6 stitches and raise the needle.

Hope that helps...

Very old Necchi sewing machine - sews in place

sounds like the feed dogs may be down or not working. Watch to see if the little teeth are moving under the pressure foot when you stitch( try to run unthreaded and with foot up no fabricto check) May be a button to turn up the feed dogs.
