I have this razor as well. Just flip the heads open, dump the hairs in the garbage and rinse the heads (while open) under hot water. Keep the heads open until dry and close on up.

You are certainly not th first person who hasn't been happy with the Arcitec model. If it never worked well for you from the beginning, there is nothing that will make it work now. It's a shame that you've waited past the 45 day return period.
Your old shaver, 6885XL, was a "Quadra" model. These were a popular model type that is now discontinued. If you still have it, it may be able to be repaired. If you would like to replace it with another Quadr model, you will find one at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

On Arcitec shavers, the blades can not be removed from the head assembly. This makes it difficult to thoroughly clean them and they must be replaced reqularly because of this.
