Question about KitchenAid KEBC107 Electric Single Oven

Kitchenaid Superba electric convection oven not preheating right

I adore my Kitchenaid Superba convection range which is approx 5 years old. Recently, however, I notice that it seems to take longer for the oven to preheat (I always use the convection cycle). How long SHOULD it take to preheat to 325F? Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

If the sensor was failing, wouldn't it be a problem using the oven at all? It does work perfectly in regular bake mode and preheats fast. By the way, there are 3 elements in this stove, broiler, lower covered plus 1 behind the fan on the back. Problem seems to be only for convection bake.

The fan is working absolutely perfectly and that is why I didn't really twig at first. Then, when it started to take forever to heat up in convection mode, I knew something was up. I cannot see the lowere element since it is covered, but since it does preheat just fine in regular bake, I am thinking it is more than likely the convection element itself. What do you think? Is there anything else it could be? Your help is GREATLY appreciated. THANKS!

Your temperature sensor is failing. Replace the temp sensor.

    Sorry, I mis-interpreted your post.
Is the fan working in convection? Is the rear element working in convection?

I am agreeing with you. The convection element may be bad. Unplug the range. Remove the cover for the fan and convection element. Remove the convection element. Use a volt/ohm meter set for ohms or continuity. Test the element. If it does not read any value, replace it.

When trying to thermal/radiant bake, convection fan at the rear does not stop turning after the preheat. Why doesn't this happen? Isn't it then convection baking?

Most wall ovens have a cooling fan that comes on when the oven has been on for some time. It is separate from the convection operation. It should shut off after the oven has been off for a time.

It sounds as if the electronic clock/timer has failed and needs replacing. If you don't use the timer and don't need the clock it can be bypassed so that the oven will still work. A repair person should be able to do this fairly easily.

I have a Superba built-in YKEBS 177 D56 ( dual convection/convention)...I think it might be about 10 years old. I noticed the same thing starting last year..the temperature seems a litlle off and the cook time on the convention seems to take longer. I've never used the conventional oven so I don't know if the temperature is OK on that component.
I don't have a manual. and I've been searching for it...does anyone know which one I need?
Sorry I couldn't help with your problem, mine is similar to your though!!

How do I use the thermometer in my Kitchenaid Superba?

I found the answer by checking the Kitchenaid website to find the manual. My model is KEMS308sss04, this is found on the right door frame. Website is: http://shop.kitchenaid.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Use%20and%20Care%20Guide%20-%20W10162223.pdf
You can preheat oven, but then turn off to set thermometer. Put probe in food. Put food in oven and plug in probe. The digital light asks for the temperature you want, type it in. Then the cooking method. I used convection bake at 325. Hit START. (The first time I didn't stop the oven and it didn't work. After stopping everything and starting with the probe before turning on the oven, it worked perfectly. Good Luck.

Sometimes the fan blade mounting nut gets loose. Remove the cover from the fan and see if the blade wobbles. If so,tighten the nut on the fan motor.
