Mac won't acknowledge Mybook!

So any disk produces this result? You may have a bad drive, but without further explanation, it's really impossible to say.

You may be able to remove the hard drive manually and try another USB adapter to access it on your computer.

Might be pootched though.

Rule of thumb is to never save your files to only 1 source. Its not a question of if a hard drive is going to fail but WHEN.

So, if you move the file that won't load onto your laptop it then loads? If so can you plug it into another mac and see if it works on that one (if it works it an issue with your macs firwire ports and an os re-install may be needed or your card has been damaged) or can you try another hardrive with your mac (if this works you need to reformat your mybook)? I've bined a HD this year already, not good.

Just a shot in the dark, but ..., shut down your computer and unplug the drive. Turn the hard drive off, then back on. Plug it back into the computer and restart. If it doesn't pop up, restart your computer this time with it plugged in.
Is there any noise coming from the drive? Is the green light on the front?
The same thing happened to me and the same drive, but 500gb. I did the above and it fired right back up again. You may have to delete the trial version from the drive if it on there, or from your computer if you had originally installed it.

don't panic your hard drive might still be working . you say it dose not sign showing it's on. please have any cable that connect the hard disk to the computer checked. I think your cables might be bad.

you send them the broken hard drive, and they send back CDs with all data.

Is it a network drive try unplug it for at least a minute and see
if it reconnects and if you can access the setup through
the browser ....depending on your network addresses.
You also might be able to mount it through a linux machine
since the file system is different.
Last resort is expensive and that is professional data recovery

Check if the Windows XP Security Updates are there on the Unit.
If these Update are present remove them & it should work Fine.
