MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. When the player is connected to your computer you can add and delete the music files. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer. You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track. Deleteing music on ipod shuttle

unless you used the same computer when downloaded music, then you should be able to delete. Otherwise, you need to sync new music. It will erase all of the other music that is in the shuffle. this really sux. i had that problem. Couldn't even keep the same music.

I can't delete anything off of my Zen when it's hooked up to my computer. Also when I try to sync it Windows Media player says error and none of the songs sync.

try formatting the device... if that doesnt work, put it into restore mode by holding the play button while turning it on.the select clean up option...do not try the firmware upgrade option beacuse it may get stuck on recovery mode.

How can i delete unwanted songs from the player

You can use Windows Media Player or Windows Explorer -whichever you prefer. If you use Windows Explorer, make sure that you only delete music files - if you delete any system files or the Music folder itself, your mp3 player will become unusable.

Windows media player is deleting all my that has been added

it sounds like media player updates (syncs) your mp3 player when it is connected to the computer. If you had music on the mp3 player that you removed from the computer then it makes sense that when updating the mp3 player it will remove it from there also. Try leaving music on media player that you want to sync with your mp3 player and try resyncing it, hopefully this will help

Deleting files

You have to plug the mp3 player into the computer, double-click My Computer, double click on the icon of the GoGear, and then go into the Music folder - exercise caution: only delete music files - if you delete files that are non-music files, you will effectively destroy your GoGear.

Windows Media Player is more complex, but it is a safer way to delete songs:

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

My Directions:

1. Connect your mp3 player to the computer

2. Open Windows Media Player

3. Click on the icon of your Mp3 player on the left-hand side of the Library

4. Click on the Songs, Tracks, or other Music Folder

5. Find a song or songs that you want to delete

6. Left-click the song once to highlight it

7. Press the “Delete” button on your computer’s keyboard

Deleting songs i do not want on my mp3 player

Install and run the Philips Device Manager from the product CD. Press and hold the [VOL+] button on the player whilst connecting to the PC.

Device Manager will go into Repair mode. Follow the on-screen prompts to format the device and restore the firmware.

If you only want to transfer selected tracks, rather than your entire library, select the Manual Sync option when Windows Media Player detects your device.
If this option doesn't appear when you connect the player, right click on your Device in Media Player and select change sync settings.

Tracks are then transferred in the Sync tab by dragging files from one pane to another.

Options & menus vary slightly between different versions of Windows Media Player.
