The roof opening panel is an electronically operated panel that can be opened or closed by the roof opening panel switch. Actuating the switch in either a forward or rearward motion supplies a ground to the roof opening panel motor. The vent and soft-stop functions are controlled by the roof opening panel motor. These positions are obtained when an internal motor cam opens the roof position switch, removing the ground from the switch. The roof opening panel has an express open feature activated when the switch is pressed momentarily. The roof opening panel is closed by continuous activation of the switch until the sunroof stops movement. This function is controlled by the roof opening panel motor.

SOURCE: power sun roof

It may be a circuit breaker. My windows and door locks stopped working, even after checking all fuses and replacing Main Driver side door switch! Found three circuit breakers that you can reset with a paper clip or small screwdriver. They were black with an aluminum cover on top. They don't come out easily, just insert the pin on each one.

SOURCE: 2004 Mini cooper convertible roof

Make sure that the microswitches in the rear trunk are all depressed. There is one where the parcel shelf (the cover that covers the view of the trunk from the outside) sits on the left that is usually the problem make sure that it is sitting on the microswitch (pull down on the closest side to you so it pivots forward and sits on the microswitch. Then make sure that the latch on the left side (drivers side) of the rear that allows easier access to the trunk switches the microswitch there. now close the trunk and try the conv top. the parcel shelf, the rear access latch and i think the trunk switches need to be depressed for the top to work. I know at least the first two.

SOURCE: can't open a 2002 Mercedes c230 kompressor sun roof

It's typically the motors or the special drive tubes that it uses. If you here a clicking noise then the sunroof became to tight and ruined the motor gears. You can actually switch the two motors, one is for the shades and needs less power then the other motor. They are identical, switch them. Nex make sure they are very tight to the 3 mounting bolts, there is a rubber washer bushing that wears out and alloys the motor to flex too much, causing the gear mis-alignment and gear grinding. This works great I do it all the time.

The front passenger and driver mats were soaked while sitting in the rain. All windows and sun roof were closed. Where are sun roof drains located

Welcome this is Marc from collisionrepairadvice.com. There are four drains in the sunroof at each corner. Need a bike brake cable tape up the end and use it like a plumbers snake to clean the drains out. There are also drains in each side of the cowl panel. The bottom of the drain ports are on the structure of the car kind of in between the fender and door These drains are only about the1/8 -3/8 inches round.

Chevrolet 2004 Tahoe Sun Roof Problem

I have built, repaired and installed sunroofs for 20 years. Its hard to tell what problem is, so many variations for motors with relays, cams, programed circuit boards. To get the roof closed you can drop motor usually 3 screws then pull glass forward as far as you can, then from inside of truck you will have to take a screw driver and finish sliding cable forward somehow. When sliding by hand watch on the inside to see what parts are moving so you can finish sliding forward. Hope this helps.

my apologies for delay in getting back to you.only just sorted this.turned out was the little control unit for sun roof causing problem.it is cable tied to the sun roof frame beside the sun roof motor and can only get at it by dropping the head cloth on one side.learned from a hyundi dealer the switches give a lot of bother, now and again the control units do too.many thanks.

2004 Expedition Sun Roof Leaks

you have 2 drains in the front that go down the a pillars and dump near the fenders.

The rear usually go down the B pillar or C pillar and out thebottom near the rocker panel.

Blow them out from the top with compressed air and make sure you have air flow at the exits.. Open the roof to see drain holes in the four corners.
