Question about Brother XL-2600

1 Answer

Foot pedal is not working!

I get an awful whirring sound when I try to use the foot pedal but the needle never moves. The wheel on the side will still make the needle go up and down but the foot pedal is useless at this point. Anyone have any idea about this one? The bobbin winder is in the correct position, so it's not that!
I think it may have something to do with a belt on the inside but I can't find a repair manual online! Help?

The handwheel will turn manually but it will not move using the foot pedal. The sound it makes when I press on the foot pedal *sounds* like I am filling the bobbin.

Machine is behaving as if not getting any power, but light is on. Press foot pedal and absolutely nothing happens

There is probably a bad connection in your foot pedal. Try moving it around with your hands at the contact points while pressing to activate. If it goes when you are shifting its position then it needs to be fixed or replaced.

My daughter's brand new, right out of the box Janome 2212 machine is not working. The foot pedal is not engaging the motor so the needle doesn't move up and down. The wheel is pushed in as it

Sorry, but gotta ask is it plugged in and turned on? Check before you answer. (I ask this because it happened to me, set up, ready to go, and no power. After an hour and the machine was in pieces, My son asked if i plugged it in and I snapped "YES, DUH" not seeing him twirling he plug in his hand...he informed me that you must be 10% smarter than anything you operate or which point he was happy to inform me, the machine was 11% smarter. If it is plugged in and turned on, is the plug to the foot pedal plugged all the way in? Is the machine on? If you get zero reaction, no movement or sound of any kind, the foot pedal my be faulty, it can happen. Take it back to the dealer and they should replace the entire machine or the foot pedal. Good luck and happy sewing.

The needle does not move when the foot pedal is used.

Make sure that you pushed the bobbin winder all the way to the left.

The needle is stuck, not moving.its very hard and the motor makes a sound but needle does not move.

Refer to your manual and make sure the bobbin winding feature is disengaged.

Turn off the power and remove the needle and if there is fabric, remove it also.

Open the needle plate look for thread tangles.

After cleaning, turn the hand-wheel by hand to see if it moves the needle up and down.

If it does, press on the foot pedal to see if it is working.

Any of the above could be the problem.

Elna walking foot

If your SU is an Air Electronic model i.e. 80's model, Elna didn't make a walking foot to fit. However, if you've got a walking foot that is the same height from sole plate to the screw fitting as a standard Elna foot then you could give it a try. The walking foot connects to the presser bar with a screw but the needle bar also needs to hook into a secondary lever on the side of the walking foot to make the foot actually move. Probably sounds very confusing . Check the movement of the foot manually by hand turning the fly wheel to see how it works before you actually use with the motor to minimise any problems if the foot doesn't fit.

Also you'll probably only be able to do straight stitch with this foot due to the clearance around the needle plate.
