Question about Motorola Mobility TracFone w175 PayAsYouGo Cell Phone
I have the same phone and this worked for me. I entered the menu and selected "Settings, Initial Setup, Network, Band Selection". After selecting the already checked marked"850/1900MHZ", I got a confirmation message and it then "searched for network". After the search was completed, the time date and time were reset to normal.

I have this phone also. My Service Provider is Tracfone. If you have a sim card installed, the date and time should already be set automatically. If the date and time are not displaying, here are some steps you can take to solve this problem.
1. Keep your software up to date - If Motorola or a software/application vendor releases a patch or software fix for your mobile device which updates the device’s security, install it as soon as possible. Here is a link from the official Motorola web site to update your software.
2. If you are already using the phone, are the first user, and have registered your phone, it may still be under the one year warranty. Call the customer service department of your Service Provider (your Service Provider shows on the main display of your phone.) Tell them the problem you are having and they will get to the bottom of it.
3. If you are only using the phone for time and alarm and calendar functions (not calls) and do not yet have a Service Provider, you'll need to get one in order to get a sim card and have the time and date display. (Tracfone handles this Motorola model) The Service Provider will provide you with information about plans that suit your needs as well as the sim card so the time and date display.
