Question about Audio & Video Receivers
"display not lit and power indicator flashes for 30 seconds then goes steady"
first thing I did was look at the trouble shooting page of the manual.
Disconnected everything and let it stand overnight.
Plugged it back in next day with same result.
Any ideas ???
Hello. Tonight I got the same problem with my AVR-2802, after listening to Sheryl Crow, and Too Slim and the Taildraggers at very high volume for an hour or so. Nasty smell and really hot transformer at shutdown. I removed the cover and checked for visible damage, found none. Checked the power transformer with an O-scope, and am getting only 1 to 2 V peak from all the secondaries, with the full 177V peak on the primary, with secondary plugs either all connected or disconnected. Also with secondaries all disconnected, I get the same symptoms of no display, standby power lamp only. No bad fuses. I suspect the power transformer has gone out, am searching for a service manual. The power transformer is about $120 US.

It happens sometime with low voltages. Try putting in a voltage stablizer in the path and test it. If it works, get a high quality component to give you correct voltage.

and I'd evaluate the speaker load you're presenting to make sure it's effectively higher than 6-0hms per speaker channel.
