Question about Fujitsu External DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive (FPCDVR42) DVD Drive
With USB devices you can go down to the clock section of the task bar and click on the << symbol to expand it. Pass the mouse over the icons and find the one that says USB devices. Open the service and select the drive you want to remove. Then choose stop service and it should shut down the drive and give a message saying it is safe to remove the device. Good Luck

Tips for a great answer:
Right click on usb drive select properties you will have an array of options
Select the hardware option then select your drive properties policies
Right click on your drive select properties then on customize restore Default in W 7
