Message: waste cartridge is full or not installed

Message will go away if lever is held up so the sensor will read but if you put in a new waste cartridge it will not work? Is the sensor intencity to weak to read through the cartridge?

Error: Waste cartridge is full or not installed is shown when the cardridge is installed. When it's removed te Error is gone.

  • drobinson001 Sep 02, 2008

I am having the same problem, even though I ordered a new waste cartridge and snapped it in place - the message is still the same. If I thump the side of the waste cartridge with a finer, the error light goes out and it will print one document, but then the message reappears. Where do I find the sensor to clean or checked for proper seating?

Same problem - partially solved by using compressed air solution detailed by fixYa member. However still shows the message when I install the cartridge! Will keep working on it and report back!

I have the same problem. The display says that the waste cartridge is full, i replaced it and still shows the message. I can pull it out, bring it back to it's position and will make one copy, and then again it says it's full. This is a pain in the ***. I expected more from a Xerox.

There is a possibility that the Imaging Unit needs replaced.
Or is the sensor itself unseated from its normal operating position.

Waste toner tank full not installed

Behind the waste toner bottle near the top, there's a lever that uncovers a sensor that shines thru the bottle. You can blow out that area with canned air but usually the sensor needs to be replaced.

Message says; Paper jam. There is no paper in it. Tried turning off and back on, resetting. Nothing, same message. Any ideas? Thanks, Niki

Hi,
Open the back door and look in the middle of the back cover, there's a black plastic sensor lever that must move up and down freely as the paper passes. That lever gets sticky and needs to be cleaned with alcohol so it can move freely again. You may need to remove the back cover with 2 phillips screws to gain access.

Waste toner box

The waste toner box did you happen maybe break the a small black piece off the waste toner box there is slot for the clear section on the back of the old toner box and you can tell by looking at the machine where the sensor is for that in middle. there should be to the right lower of the machine inside where the toner box goes two slots one handles sensor that tell the copier the box is installed and another for half full box. Have NEW one install it. make sure your toner box has those parts that stick out to accurate those sensors.

Waste toner tank full/not install keep displaying

The sensor for the waste toner tank is dirty or defective. The toner sensor is on the right as you look at the panel just below the liquid crystal display. There is a bump in the clear plastic just below the circular right vent port, that's where the used toner pours in. When you clean out the toner cartridge there is some residue left that makes the sensor think it's still full. Take a piece of paper towel and a small screwdriver (I'm told a bent coat hanger will work, too) and clean the inside of the sensor window inside the used toner cartridge (w/ access through the toner port). It looks like a little raised groove on the right. Just wipe it until it's clear on the inside. The sensor can now see through the window and you should be okay. Otherwise, the sensor may need to be replaced by an authorized Samsung technician. Let me know how it works out!
