Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I am running Vista Ultimate 64 on screaming specs. I have new drivers all around OS, firmware, printer. I have done many things, including changing to plain paper, selecting grayscale, deselecting duplex and borderless printing options, reinstalled the driver, printed offline and turned it on, put in and removed additional tanks.
It will never print from the black only option, even though it is full and the others are empty. I remove them and it will just say I cannot print because of the missing cartirdges in a canon dialoge and bring you to the canon help displaying the status of your cartridges.
I have a 4 year Bachelor in a computer field and have followed all instruction here and elsewhere on the net and achieved no results.
It is a dissappointing to find not only can it not be changed to print using only the larger black cartridges, but in fact as described uses the other 4 smaller more often replaced and therefore more expensive color cartridges. I have this to be true through reading, verified by others posts and in my own experience.
It is not widely known or believed, but there have been linked documents I have seen on certain credible websites that HP at one time or anonther with certain model inkjets engineered a specific part to fail. I am sure it is not the only case, but one I do know I heard of.
We do know for a verifiable fact that they often sell inkjets for less than they cost to produce unlike lasers and that the reason is infact ink. We know they like to not give us cartrdiges with new printers or if they do they are 30% full. We know we also buy a overpriced USB cable to go with it. I do not see it a stretch that engineers designed the printer driver and operation accordingly. This could be easily fixed with a driver patch, given that I have the newest driver, I would bet at a higher level they know about this, probably engineered it, at the support level they are uninformed, misinformed or told to give customers the run around.
I would call support, but I fear I will be wasting my time. This is dissappointing. I stopped buying HP because of the leaked email from a higher up, this may be a reason to stop buying cannon, if they do not have the intiative to address this publicly on this post or since users here have referenced calling support, we know they are aware of they issue, the question is what are they going to do about it?
This sucks. I bought the MP830 because the colors were in different tanks and I thought if I only had to replace what I used, it would be cheaper but if they mash them together to make black, that would be a stretch. Extremely dissapointing.
Feel free to give Cannon this link. I hope they address it, I am not going to waste my time calling them. I do not see why the guy got a 87% approval for his check grayscale box, many users have done that and still the problem exists. Many other places where this is mentioned it mentions a lot more than that and still users have no sucuess.
I believe I tried everything, anything new appreciated. Cannon step up and answer this.
Hi, the MP830 uses the large black for all text jobs, and the software only allows you to use the combined colors for black if you want to stretch the large black ink. If your black is not printing, I would bet your purge assembly is bad or the hose for the black cleaning has come off. I would replace the purge unit,QM2-3032-020 around $20.00
