Question about Maytag Neptune MDE4000 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Electric Maytag Neptune Dryer not heating up.

The other day we moved our Maytag Neptune dryer to clean out behind it. When we pushed it back in location I noticed that the vent pipe must have gotten dislodged because it was blowing hot air into the laundry room.
My husband looked at the dryer and reattached the vent tube and now the dryer won't heat up. It was working while he fixed it last night, but this morning it would not dry a load of clothes.
Is there something he could have knocked loose from inside of the dryer that we need to hook back up?
Please let me know if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks

If the dryer won't heat up, the problem is typically either a blown thermal fuse or a faulty heating element. The thermal fuse is located just inside the back of the dryer on or near the exhaust duct. It is about one inch long. The thermal fuse and heating element can be tested using an ohm meter or multimeter. These components should have continuity. If either does not, that component is faulty. There is no telling if the moving around of the machine caused the problem or if the timing of the problem was coincidental. Sure hope this helps ya and best wishes.

My maytag neptune dryer doesn't blow any hot air

on top of the heating element on the left side there is a white 2connector part, that is the heater thermal fuse. disconnect the dryer power cord and one wire of the thermal fuse and use a meter to find out if you have continuity to it. if not replace it. also check for burn wires at heating element. also test heating element by disconnecting one wire and using an ohm meter test it at 2 therminals. it shoul measure 10-12 ohms.

No heat in the dryer. It is Maytag Neptune gas dryer about 9 years old. The drum rotates just fine but heat stopped a couple of days ago.

Maytag Neptune Dryer not heating

Q - My electric dryer runs but will not heat, what could stop my dryer from heating?
A - Things that could stop a electric dryer from heating:
- house fuse or breaker ( needs two of them ), heating element, burnt wire, thermostat(s), thermal fuse ( not all models ), motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, burnt power cord/plug.
A ohm meter test for these parts is here.

Maytag Neptune Dryer-stopped heating

first, check the exhaust, make sure every inch of it is clean on the inside. if there is any blockage, the heat will build up in the exhaust and a sensor will shut down the heating element.

The dryer heats up and spins just fine but doesn't dry clothes, smells like burning

look behind the drier with a flashlight and see if the connecter vent got mashed or folded over when the drier got pushed back also what kind of vent are you using back there if its long cut it short as you need if its folded over on its self that cuts its flow in half
