Question about Poulan 25cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered String Trimmer #P2500

1 Answer

Poulan Featherlite XT200 Grass Trimmer

It started out with just the pull cord coming out, it didn't break it came out in one piece.

I contacted customer support and they tried to help but things got worse. the pull coil has now come out and it's now uncoiled.

I would like to know how to fix all of the above and get my trimer working again.

Well, ok, you may want a helper with this. First thing you want to do is to get the pull cord/rope put back through the hole it gets pulled from and then would around the pulley and tied through the hole on the pulley into a knot that keeps it in place. Then you need to start rewinding the coil where it goes inside of itself and position the ends of the coil into their respective slots that makes the pulley spring back which is where you should have a helper help hold it in place so that the coil doesn't out, you will want it to have a little tension on the coil so that the rope fully retracts (it is kindof hard to explain, I wish I could show you). The coil will be the hardest part of this and may take multple tries to get it into place. I hope this helps as it is hard to explain this but it is a simple design that takes time to get back together. If you have any specific questions about this and think a picture would help, then please post the picture of the area in question with the question in your next reply. Let me know how this turns out.

Engine start procedure for grass trimmer 350 L x series

  • With the trimmer placed on a level piece of ground press the primer bulb about 10 times.
  • Open the choke.
  • Press the throttle and lock it in place with the lock button
  • Pull the start cord until the engine catches. It doesn't matter if it cuts out again.
  • Close the choke, and if the engine did cut out the first time, pull the start cord again. This time it should start and you can start trimming the grass. If it didn't cut out just close the choke and you're ready for trimming.

I have old poulan weedeater featherlite grass trimmer. wasn't used for many years. I replaced lines and bulb which were dried out and cracked. opened up & cleaned up carb -gaskets seemed to be in...

Did you check for spark? Try starting fluid to see if you could at least get a hic cup? Almost sure that your issue is carb related and you may have to replace it if it is not an ignition problem.

Hello, I have a featherlite gas blower. when pull

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

You willneed to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner.Makesure the small screen is free of debris. (Should be able to see daylightthrough it.)

Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152),to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.

If you need further assistance on:
1. Fuel line replacement or
2. Carburetor kit replacement

Just let me know.

Take it apart as you did before. Look for whatever it is binding. Did you rewind the rope so there is a good amount of tension? If you didn't, then do that . Good luck, Lee
