You may have inadvertently set up a keyboard short cut on the delete key... go to your system preference app in the dock. Then select keyboard shortcuts... if you select "default" at the bottom of the window it will revert to the factory shortcuts and eliminate any you may have accidentally created...
Hope that solves your delete issue...

you can create new admin like this by deleting a specific file.

You need to enter terminal and create a new admin account:

1. Reboot
2. Hold apple key + s key down after you hear the chime.
(command + s keys on newer Macs)
3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):

mount -uw /
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
shutdown -h now

4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and your good to go again!

okay going to have a bash at solving this but it's a little hard based on your description. I'm guessing this has Mavricks operating system installed.

  1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Dictation & Speech, then click Text to Speech.
  2. Select the "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" checkbox. By default, speaking is enabled when you press Option-Esc. To choose a different key, click Change Key, press one or more modifier keys (Command, Shift, Option, or Control) together with another key, then click OK.

  3. To have your Mac start speaking, press the specified key. To stop the speaking, press the key again. If text is selected when you press the key, the selected text is spoken. Otherwise, available text items in the current window are spoken; for example, if Mail is the current window, an email message is read. If no text items are available, you hear a beep.
So based on what you have described you have already found this option and set the change key to "command" + "e"
Try rebooting then going to the text to speech option and attempt to set the key combination you want it to be. If this fails to change then try resetting the P-ram which should set it back to the default.

How do I Return regular keyboard functionality on Apple MacBook Air notebook

Sounds like you need a new keyboard. You can get one from apple or a third party vendor. One thing you might try is re-installing the drivers for the keyboard.

Brand new apple dvd drive will not accept dvd

The DVD works by just pushing it in far enough till you get resistance, then the drive pulls the DVD in by itself. If after it pulls the DVD in, it just ejects it, The DVD drive thinks you are using an incompatible disk.

You can also try resetting the SMC.
This is how to reset SMC on most modern Mac laptops:

Shutdown your MacBook Air / MacBook Pro
Connect the power adapter to your Mac
On the MacBook/Pro's keyboard, hold down the Shift+Control+Option keys and the Power button at the same time
Release all keys and the power button at the same time
Boot your Mac as usual

Here's the key sequence to hold down:

Reset the SMC of a MacBook Air or Retina MacBook Pro

Do keep in mind that by resetting the SMC you will lose power specific settings, like the time it takes to sleep a Mac and other customizations to power settings. No big deal, but if you have made many changes to your hardware behavior you will want to adjust stuff like sleep behavior again.
Reset SMC of an iMac, Mac Pro, Mac Mini

Resetting SMC is different for non-portable Macs:

Shut down your Mac
Disconnect the power cord
Press and hold the Mac's power button for 5 seconds
Release the button
Reattach the power cables and boot the Mac as usual

Reset the SMC of a MacBook or MacBook Pro's with detachable batteries

sad mac reset the smc Older MacBook laptops with a removable battery can reset SMC with the following approach:

Shutdown the MacBook/Pro and remove the battery
Disconnect the power adapter, hold the Power Key for 10 seconds
Release the power key and reconnect your battery and power adapter
Turn your Mac on
Let boot as usual

Hopefully that will clear up your problems, if not it might be worth a visit to the Apple Store or a certified repair center.

Happy New Year,
Kerry
