My GE Microwave Model JKP90SP4SS will not shut off, even with no time programmed and cooking is done. The only way to stop operation is to open the door or shut off the breaker.

Your oven is cooking by itself, which can cause arcing and even a fire.

So until it's fixed, please leave it unplugged or leaver the door open.

Sounds like the main control board, but further testing should be done to rule out other possible causes. One thing I would do is to check to make sure it is plugged into a grounded outlet that is actually grounded. Bizarre behavior can be caused on some ovens because of a lack of a ground connection.

In the cases I've seen, the fan starts operating and sounds like the oven is cooking. This is usually caused by one or more of the interlock switches being out of adjustment.

During operation, most of the built-in models have a panel that tilts out while the exhaust fan is on. When cooking is done, the exhaust fan shuts off and the panel retracts to its normal position. With the fan & microwave motor off, the hum is easier to hear. Look closely at the top panel the next time you hear the hum, and you'll probably see that it's retracting.

unplug the unit and if you can open the housing and slowly remove the ribbon cable of the touchpad console to the main board. put it back after 5 minutes and try it. let me know what happen.

If you can program it and the problem occures when you push START. Then the problem is a door switch, or the control panel not having a completed circuit. Think of your control panel as an off-on switch.COOK, the control panel switches on for 100% of the time programed. DEFROST,The control panel turns the Cook-Relay on for 30% and off for 70%, on, off, on, off,for the time you programmed for DEFROST. This is how it works. There is no lowering of the output. The output is 100% anything other than COOk is done in % of time on, % of time off. This is why you can hear a "Bump" when Defrosting. The "Bump" is the Cook-Relay sending power to the High Voltage Side, 30% on, 70% off.

It may be a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel, such as a sticky relay.

I would suspect a sticky relay first, but the door switches should be checked.
