It sounds like your machine may be seizing up. it needs a service. oil all moving parts with good sewing machine oil (not 3-in-1 oil) and work the oil n b turning handwheel by hand for a while.

if this does not free-up machine have it serviced by a tech.

Is there a clutch that allows you to move the fabric through without the needle stitching (usually a knob in the centre of the wheel. That could be loose or worn.

My machine is skipping stiches it seems its not picking up from the bobbin

Install a brand new needle and confirm it is inserted with the flat side facing the proper direction.. A bent, damaged needle will sometimes cause skipped stitches or even needle strikes inside the machine. A new needle is the least expensive cure for a lot of sewing machine problems. The needle should be changed about every 8 hours of sewing or at least when starting a new project.

Remove the top thread. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct.

Sometimes, skipped stitches will occur if the needle, thread, and fabric are incompatible. Be sure to use the correct needle for your project. Use a good quality thread--AVOID old or bargain bin thread!

If the machine continues to skip stitches, then it may be out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

HOW TO CHANGE THE OLD BELT ON THIS MACHINE

The one thing on a sewing machine that needs the most repair work is the belt. The sewing machine belt is a piece of rubber that makes the wheel turn and the needle go up and down in a sewing motion. If the belt is in bad shape, the sewing machine will not work. Sometimes while sewing you may notice a burnt rubber smell. When you smell this, you know it is time to change the belt. Changing a sewing machine belt is fairly easy; just make sure you have the proper belt.

Singer 404 - The top needle thread will not pick up the bobbin thread on a Singer 404. I know the timing is fine, the needle is in correctly and I have loaded the bobbin thread correctly. I don't know...

is it the original bobbin? try a different bobbin, sometimes they won't work if slightly dent or chip! I know it sounds weird bt it's the truth about bobbins

Singer 9030 runs but don't sew

try changing the needle--make sure the needle is the correct one
for the fabric being sewed.
also make sure the needle is turned the correct way in the needle
holder and pushed all the way up into the needle holder.

Needle seems to be hitting something down inside causing it to bend/break

I would say we need more info about the problem, like make, model, etc, etc., but, the truth is regardless of what brand it is, if the needle hits anything during it's journey down into the bobbin case area, then it's simply out of time. This is usually the result of someone trying to clean or repair the machine when they don't know what they're doing. Somehow the belt has slipped. If it's a geared drive belt then you must release tension, move it a tooth one way or the other and put it back together and try it, easily, to see if it's better. IF not then try it another tooth and so on until you get it back to where it should be. That's usually not more than a couple of teeth one way or the other. If it's just a smooth belt, then just release the tension and move the mechanism by hand in the same manner as you did with the toothed unit.

Brother CS6000i - Needle breaking, bobbin thread not picking up

There are a few possible causes, firstly make sure you have the correct needle and it is in the correct way and make sure when you fit the needle it is pusshed all the way up into the needle holder. If the shuttle or hook is moving around the bobbin case then the timing may have been knocked out. If the it is not moving it means either the gear or belt that drives the hoo / shuttle has been damaged or broken.

Singer Model 5050 Timing Problem

Actually, timing of needle vs, shuttle is not very easy job several factor you should check on.There is belt ot sometime a shafting with worm gear and helical gear under machine w/c drive the shuttle with the bobbins in timing order,Any one of them is present on the timing adjustment can be done by releasing the belt or the helical gear, besure machine is unplug then set all mechanism on low dead center meaning the needle move to utmost lower position catching this by the shuttle and bobbins at center position. No motion applied if this was set up,engage the belt with pulley and the bobbins link holder tigh allenscrew besure the needle is lower dead center at the center of shullle bobbins catching needle without motion when setting back at original position. If this was made manually move it on handwheel going up and side down the needle gradually if the needle move freely several time and it was catching this by the shuttle hook bobbins.if ok put thread bobbins and upper thread dial tension with the needle.Move machine on handwheel try to catch the bobbins thread,If this so your machine is ready to sew again if problem occurs on alignment repeat adjustment on perpect alignment, besure all parts on upper casing of machine specially two drive gear are in normal alignment.
