Question about Televison & Video
I have a vhs tape loading problem: tape will not completely load or start. The tape seems to get stuck halfway in. No eject is triggered. We identified a white plastic pin on the right side of the cassette carriage that needs to raise so that the tape can go all the way back. It seems connected to two other pins that also follow tracks that allow the tape to insert completely. How can we make the white pin lift? There is a metal part that moves up and down and seems to block the white pin.
I assume the cassette flap lifts fully, allowing the tape to go into the deck as this is a small lever mechanism. When the tape goes so far in, it activates a switch to start the loading motor this is usually a metal or plastic pin on the deck depending on the make of VCR (as you do not mention the model of your VCR, I can only give you an overall explination of a carriage mechanism). The pins at the side can incorporate a start sequence as well & will guide the deck into position. It looks like your machine has gone out of alignment & to solve the problem you would need to remove the cassette housing & re-align the pin at the side so that it follows the correct path, this can sometimes be a tricky & awkward thing to do as you can break parts of the deck if it is not aligned correctly. My advice would be to take it to a service repair centre.
