Power steering cuts out

Obviously this could be very dangerous

Pull in to a Volvo dealer & get it checked

There could be a re call of your model if this is a known Volvo problem.
Volvo pride themselves on their Vehicle Safety.
Dealer shouldn't charge for a possible manufacturing problem

Call a GM dealer for the number as these have changed since then. A good qualified Tech with a hi-end scanner should be able to find the problem.

let me guess your power steering comes on and dings when you first start it and your steering is hard to turn, or it comes on while your driving, these cars dont use fluid they run off of a electric motor for the steering, but good news these cars have a recall on the steering just take it to your nearest chevy dealer and tell them what is happening and they should fix it at no cost to you, just takes them about 4 hours to fix, My wife has the same car and we just got ours fixed 2 months ago. hope this helps.

I replaced my air suspension with strutmasters on my 2003 navigator. Cut the wire to disarm warning light and my p. s. did same as yours. Reconnected wire and ps worked normal but suspension warning is now on.

VSA is Vehicle Stability Assist and is related to ABS braking.
The power steering issue could just be a series of unfortunate events but it does sound suspicious. I'd try to figure out what caused the fluid to leak and where the leak is in relation to the VSA that was replaced before I took it back to the dealer.
i.e. If the VSA is on the other side of the engine compartment, it's probably not the dealer's fault. If they are right next to each other, something might have happened.

you can now buy just the power steering motor for $150 instead of the complete column for $600,,the motor overheats and cuts out,thats all you need,easy to install or about $150 ish laborat dealer,that will fix the cutting out and no power steering issue,,,,common,,,,,checvy has a recall on the cobalt for this concern but saturn does not even thou its the same exact part,,,,because when GM went bankrupt they are NO longer responsibile for any saturn issue,,,,,,hence,,no recall

My RX8 had the same problem. First, change your battery cable ends. On the Positive cable there is a white wire that powers the power steering. It probably has a bad connection at the battery post. I cut the end off my rx8 and just put a regular battery cable end on it and my problem was solved.

all the 3.6 liter engine,outlook, aura, vue anything with a 3.6 liter engine has noisy steering,there is no fix,,,just noisy

Or they gave you the wrong line. There may have been a design change though. Ask the dealer

you are being lied to. easy fix.avoid this mechanic purchase a new bracket or get one much cheaper at a auto scrap yard (you must remove yourself) . you can go on youtube type in year,make and model/replace power steering bracket. you will see a step by step video to do it yourself. good luck.
