I have been trying to set up the following combination for my brother.
JVC Digital Video Camera GR-DVL150
HS-V4Kit JLIP Video Capture software JLIP Video Producer software
PC Digital Photo lead 2.5mm 3-pole to 9 pin serial
We are not having any success, the PC does not 'see' the camera, I tested the serial port by doing a direct cable conection to my notebook, this worked fine)
I am not sure if the V4 kit is compatible, as the handbook says use a V16 kit, (but JVC told my brother the V4 kit is compatible)
Also he was told by JVC to buy the above lead, however I think he may need a JLIP 3.5mm 4-pole to 9 pin serial cable ?
If anyone can throw some light on this problem I would be very gratefull.
What is the difference between PC (digital Photo) and JLIP ?
-   need softaware to capture video from my camcorder not using fire wire or usb

Do you have the small docking station that originally came with the camcorder? I have the same set-up and the camcorder is placed on a docking station and has a turn-clamp to connect. The cable is then placed in the computer's com port. TIP: The camcorder must be in the docking station and powered up when I boot the computer to recognize the camcorder. It works well to capture photos from video. My worked on WIN 98 SE and WIN XP. Good Luck.

I have a JVC GRDVX10 and I use the the "Card navigator" software that came on the CD to download still images via the serial port.

My brother does not have that software as his camera does not contain a memory card.

Not the answer you are looking for- but, the JLIP software is very crude compared to the many IEEE1394 DV / in / out programs available-
