If your monitor is an LCD panel and not a CRT then magnetic interference is unlikely. If this just became noticeable over time and not suddenly, then I would guess your backlight is reaching the end of its useful life. It will probably begin to dim, even go completely dark sooner or later.

Now, it can be fixed if you know where to get the parts and how to install, but if your monitor is a few years old, I'd suggest replacing with a new one. Certainly try testing the computer with another monitor, and the monitor on another computer to rule out any other problems. But this is usually a symptom of the backlight as i said.

Hope this helps.

Check the monitor cable at both P.C and Monitor ends, ask a friend if you can borrow their cable to test on your screen

Anything magnetic close to the monitor can cause this happen. Make sure there is no magnetic interference.

It happened to my Acer LCD monitor and I returned it to the dealer which confirmed that the monitor was OK. We found out later that it was due to a faulty graphic card to which the monitor was linked to.

Monitor Problems

A pink or red tint indicated that florescent back light bulbs that light up the monitor are going out. When they start to die they out out red or pink light instead of white light like they should. They bulbs are replaceable but not easy for someone not familiar with this type of repair. Parts would run about $30 plus shipping and are available online but it may not be worth the repair on the monitor due to age.

OUR sAMSUNG sYNCMASTER 205BW has a red tint in the background and cannot adjust it out.

Hello,

The red or pink tint indicates that the back light florescent bulbs are failing. These bulbs are just like the bulbs in home and office lamps just much much smaller. When the reach the end of life the light output turns from pure white to red because the bulbs are not fully turning on. Check the manufacturer date on the back of the monitor, if its less than 3 years then the monitor is still under warranty. If its older than 3 years then its time to get a new monitor because your is about to fail.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Step 2 - If the pics are fine on sum other comp then ur monitor needs attention

White has turned pinkish

sounds like the linear adjustment is out of whack.....most projection type tvs, projection, lcd, plasma, have to be correctly aligned so that the color grids overlap each other to properly display the correct hue being created. you'd need the service code to re-adjust it, or have it serviced. also possible that one of the color grids is bad, but if you have all three (red, blue, green) colors showing on the entire screen area i would doubt it

The screen is pink tinted

A pink (or any tinted) screen is usually an indicator of one of two things:
1. The cable going from the video card to the monitor is loose. Try adjusting the cable and see if the picture changes. Put pressure in all directions slowly to see if it clears up. If it does, you should change your monitor cable.
2. One or more of your CRT "guns" or "rays" is malfunctioning, causing the red gun to be too strong, or causing the green or blue to be too weak. This is difficult to fix... time for a new monitor. Sometimes you can get a little more life out if by smacking the monitor on the side.

Pink tint on Dell 1704FPT Flatpanel LCD

Unfortunately if you have tried a different machine (it could be a bad video card) and tried the cables most likely it is the screen itself. Typically when one of these lcd's begin to fail the pixles no longer access the blue field and you see mostly red instead of the other two colors. In short pink screen is terminal, it will last for a while longer.

Pink tint on Dell 1704FPT Flatpanel LCD

The monitor is broken. The circuits that generate green in the RGB setup are not working. If its under warranty, replace it.

Pinkish Red Screen??

the RGB controls that you found were those the focus or were they the screens? There should be small switches like that (variable resistors) on the CRT circuit boards themselves. The crt circuits are attached to the crts end . You can gain access to them by removing the speaker grille and access panel in front. I am not sure of the resistors number for that model, however these are always brown resistors and and you will see that one leg is attached to the runner right next to that control switch. I will try to locate the service info for that cahssis V18 and repost if I can locate the info.
