Schematic Diagrams for KLH ASW10-120

After acquiring a fried KLH ASW10-120, I write to the tech folks at KLH and they sent me the upper and lower board schematics. I asked if I could publish them online, and explicitly asked if I could share them on FixYa.com, and they gave me permission to do just that.

Here's the lower board, which has the power supply:

Here's the upper board:

I have a pair of KLH Audio Systems speakers, model number C130B. They came (used) with no wires. Can anyone tell me how to connect them to a stereo? Thank you for any help.

Far as I know, you only have two wire posts on each speaker. Stereos have two wires out for each speaker. Doesn't matter which wire goes to which post so long as you do it the same for each speaker so they will be in phase. I use red as + and black as neg.

Can I hookup a Sony receiver STR-DE505 to a Bassbite 2 KLH Audio system and how??

Yes.

It's frustrating that KLH manuals seem impossible to find anywhere online BUT a simple picture will suffice...

Go here and supersize the picture of the rear of the sub...

Run your front channel speaker wires to the CLEARLY-MARKED connectors on the sub and daisy-chain your front speakers to the CLEARLY-MARKED connectors on the sub.

Adjust the sub volume to match the front speakers levels. This will give you local volume control at the Sony.

One of the clips on the back of my klh-HT-9930 speakers that holds the speaker wire in place broke off. Is there a way I can fix it or get a replacement part?

you can find replacements from radio shack or maplins. you may like to try a stronger type as the ones shown tend to be a little weak

I connected up all the speakers and components and it works fine; however, I do not know how to connect the sub-woofer. Is it connected to the B speaker out-let?

There should be a subwoofer output on your receiver that it connects to. It'll be labeled "Subwoofer" and its typically a purple connection.

The 'Subwoofer' output on your receiver is used to connect to a powered subwoofer with a built in amplifier. Your KLH speakers use what is called a 'passive' subwoofer, it gets its power from the receiver and then passes the higher frequencies to the left and right front speakers after taking out the low frequencies for the subwoofer. A speaker system with a passive subwoofer is good for casual listening, but a powered subwoofer is required for really hearing low frequencies and rumble in movies. The KLH speakers you have were highly rated in their time for their price. The four satellite speakers and center channel speaker have very good sound compared to the little 'midget' surround sound speakers most people buy today.

Here's how you hook them up:

- The left and right front channels from your receiver terminals should go to the terminals on the subwoofer marked 'From Amplifier'
- Your left and right front speakers are then connected to the subwoofer terminals marked 'To Speakers', they do not connect directly to your receiver.
- Your center speaker is connected to your receiver terminals marked 'Center'
- Your rear speakers are connected to your receiver terminals marked 'Surround'

That should get you up and running. If the bass isn't good enough with the passive subwoofer, you can get a decent powered subwoofer like the Velodyne VX-10 for about $150 and 'kick it up a notch'. Good luck and enjoy....
