With a specialty clutch tool, However you can remove most chainsaw clutches using a hammer and flat head screw driver and give it a few solid taps in counterclockwise rotation (it is reverse thread).

Husqvana chainsaw - answer from Tim Doolittle - I am stuck at the stage before the clutch. I can't get the plastic casing off the chainsaw.

If the chain brake is broken it is probably wrappes arond the clutch drum you will need to pry it off with a screw driver and probably have to replace the complete chain brake

How do you remove the carburetor on a Husqvarna 240e chainsaw?

Remove the handles, then remove four 8MM bolts from the bottom securing the engine case. The entire assembly will then rotate upward,
allowing you to remove the two 8MM nuts and carburetor.

I can't move chain tensioner on 240e.

The adjuster is a tooless system on this machine housed in the chainbrake cover, it may be the gear mechanism has jammed or stripped one of the gears, remove the brake fom the saw, remove the cross head screws covering the adjuster mechanism, clean, or replace damaged components.adw1_3.jpg

I have a husky 240e saw and i just rebuilt the carburetor and it will crank up and go dead and i pull it a few more times and it will do the same thing so what should i do now and i have blowed it out...

The 235/240E had major main bearing problems, the bearing cage on the clutch side breaks up and pinches the piston ring in, if the machines has a good spark and clean carb, i would be looking to check the it is mechanically sound, unfortunatley this means a full strip down, let me know if you need more help, i have done very many of these machines.

Can't get side cover back on.

If the side cover will not go on, it will be because the brake has actuated, you need to load the brake, this can be done by inserting a pin spanner into the quadrant where the grey handle fits when the cover is on the saw, twisting this will re load the brake, the cover should then go back on.

Husqvarna - IPL, 235, 235e 240, 240e, 2008-01, Chain Saw (example - may not be your saw):
http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/usa/2006/I06000/I0601076.pdf
See Detail A or B (same pn), pn 503 057940. You can use a Crescent Wrench on one of the ears (left end) to reset it. With the cover positioned with pn 503 057940 in the upper left rotate it CW until it nests, to reset it.

This works quite well:

If you do not have a vise a large C clamp to a work surface might work, you may still need a block or two of wood.

You can download the IPL for you saw here:

Enter the 3 digit model number (no XPs, Es, just the numbers)
Serial number decode – useful when downloading IPLs and Manuals

06 = year produced – 2006 (single digit before 2000)
15 = week produced - March

Chain brake band will not release to replace the clutch cover

Hi there
Sometimes that's not an easy job . I work for a Husqvarna dealer and I have that problem frequently . First try to get the clutch cover on place (do not use the bolts) and push in @ the top part of the clutch cover , then try to move the clutch lever backwards to release the band (better if done with two people) . If that does not work the only way is remove the clutch lever with the 2 bolts on each side and put the lever on the clutch cover (top metal piece that looks like a clover)to release the band (again with 2 people one holds the clutch cover and the other one the lever pulling the lever backwards) .
Hope this help
